Who is buying a Type81?

I'm out the $1200 either way, if I spent it last march or this September...the difference is I won't be fighting to order what's left online when they do land...mine will have a shipping label with my name on it before the leftovers hit the web store...I think I made the better business decision...

Only hindsight is 20/20. I don't think anyone is in a position to be saying what the "better" decision was until the guns are here, putting lead down range, for sale in stores/EE and getting put through their paces. For all we know, these might be going for $800 bucks 6 months from now or they could be going for more than twice that much if you can even find one. I'm a little surprised by some of the baseless confidence people display here but i really hope all you patient bastards get your prize in the end.

TI started taking pre-orders in March 2016 for promised summer 2016 deliveries. It's summer 2017 and TI hasn't seen the rifles in person yet, hopes to inspect them soon, and nobody has one in their hands. I think cynicism is more than warranted by those who have had their hard earned pay in TI's bank account earning interest for THEM for the last 17 months.

I am into rental properties when not at my day job. When a housing developer wants people to "pre-order" a dwelling, they have to steeply discount it, the price of raising early capital this way. Business people are savvy and don't want their money earning returns for someone else unless there is a clear benefit for them attached. And in the case of a dwelling, there is a signed contract ensuring it will be built, the developer has clear title to the land, etc.

In this case, I don't see what's changed. People have been lured into paying full price for a product that may or may not yet exist, more than a year after it was promised to have been delivered. People who are waiting for actual guns to be in Canada for sale appear to have made the better business decision.

Correction - they had a TARGET date for summer of 2016. Secondly, putting that money in a bank account would have seen it effectively lose value - interest rates are no more than 2% tops which is less than the rate of inflation. Thirdly the people waiting for the actual guns to be in Canada are more than likely out of luck. This will be a limited production run and it will be 2 or 3 years before the factory is able to accept an order for a second batch due to PLA contracts. Finally, nobody was "lured" into anything. People placed their orders knowing that there was no definite delivery date and could have cancelled at any time.

Claven's just saying that you could have invested that 1200$, however you wanted, for the last year. Then still buy the gun and keep your earnings. That's the difference between 1200 out THEN and 1200 out NOW/when they get here. And "fighting to order" doesn't seem like it will be the case to me imo. Someone on here said that they still have 400 left to preorder. I'm not sure if that means only 400 left in the whole order or if the preorder is special stock. Would have been nice if TI told us how many are coming (as far I I know they haven't). Perhaps that was a marketing trick to get the preorders. Who knows, TI ain't saying much

What earnings? prime interest rate has been stuck at 0.5% for years now. Most any bank will pay is less than the rate of inflation.

Why do you put so much faith in any of that #### TI has said when they have yet to have a single accurate "prediction" about these rifles? They have been 100% WRONG on every start/delivery date so far... it's really creepy to take their words so literal like that...almost biblical.

Investments. If you only know of one way to get returns on your money, you should probably buy books and not guns.
Manulife stock was $16 in Feb 2016, it's $25+ today. You can do the math and figure out how much of a return that is.

Because there is no evidence of any kind to contradict them and they have not lied or mislead yet.

Didn't say that - maybe you should invest in a reading class rather than guns. the OP suggested putting the money in a bank account and earning interest. Investing $1,000 is nothing and with the rocky ride the markets have been on you would have been just as likely to lose the money that earn anything substantial.

If a thousand dollars means that much to most of you go buy a supply of SKS's instead. Jeesus Christ people, for a relatively rare widget in these here parts you put the money down and it will get here when it gets here. If you want it quicker, stop the whining and try bringing it in to Canada yourself. Whambulance come to mind,

Thank you Hityz. I did say you could invest it "however you wanted." That includes wisely...

AMEN to that! There are some here, who say they're not even getting one, that seem borderline psychotic over the issue LOL!

Not to go too far off topic, but if you are only getting 0.5% productivity out of your investment funds, then you need a new strategy, a new financial guy, and you need to do a lot more "how to" research. Just my hands-off managed funds have done 10% year over year for the last 3 years. I do way better on self-directed stuff, along with the vast majority of investors.

Heck, even my milsurp rifle "investments" are doing better than 10% when I flip within a year.

Taking full payment pre-orders on a rifle they claimed would be here in 2016, and then backtracking and saying they would only be made sometime in 2017? That's not misleading to you?
Someone get this boy some glasses cuz he is blind as #### lol

You mean like in April 2016 when they claimed the guns were in production, then had to come clean and deal with a surge of pre-order client refunds? I'm not sure they lied, but they either misled us or were terribly badly treated by their supplier, or both.

Uhh... as the "OP" you are referring to, maybe go back and read my post. I didn't suggest anyone park $1200 in a bank account. That's a waste of money. I said TI had YOUR money in THEIR bank account. And even that's a simplification - it's more likely they spent YOUR money on things like storefront rent, employee salaries, etc.

Businesses typically don't have investments, they invest in themselves to exist and, if lucky, to grow.

They never at any time claimed the guns were in production - they simply stated a target arrival date. A date which was missed through no fault of theirs.

The guns are either in the system for a production run ? Or Not?
How can you have a target arrival date with no production date???
So TI was hoping for a production date and never should have misled us by setting a arrival date!!

Well... I like the looks of the gun... and that it uses 7.62x39... So I pre ordered !
Got the extras that TI offered before... and more extras from this past winter...
If the gun is a flop... then I learn a lesson...
If its a Bang... Then great for me!
