Who sells actions in canada

I’m a big fan of the Impact actions. Had a couple of the Surgeon 591s, but my new Impact 737R is excellent.
Get all my stuff from Insite Arms, and they are fantastic to deal with.

Okay, sounds like your not to intrested in selling just an action than?

Just curious, if selling a product to make money is the goal of most buisnesses. And you are selling out of actions before the next order arives. Whats the reasoning for not just ordering twice as many actions if you can sell them as fast as you can get them anyways?

Action companys can only supply a certain amount so you can say you take as many as you want but its not gonna happen. We didnt start just to make money
We started so we could offer a quality rifle to people who know the difference of a good one vs other just ok stuff. We sell some actions retail for sure as we carry some we can supply on a regular and steady basis. Others we just carry to have a few so we can offer diversity to the selection. Feel free to call and see if we have what ya need. thanks

If you are selling 300 a year for builds why not sell an extra 100 or 200 a year retail?

They are in the business of building rifles, not so much being a retail outlet for actions.

House building companies have a lot of wood in their yards, but they are generally not the type of company you go to if you want to buy some wood.

Rather then give them attitude online and question their business model, why not just call them and ask if they are willing to sell you an action?

Seems like if you could sell more of something and in turn make more money most people probably would. Unless there is some other reason not to.

So I asked out of curiosity what that reason could be. Souns like a limited supply is the answer.

How is the giving attitude? You just talking to hear your selfe speak? Maybe just dont post

My point is that you would be a lot more effective in your quest if you would just pick up the phone and start calling vendors.

Hope you find what you are looking for. Let us know what you end up.

Hirsch precision has a lot barnard stuff in stock but not much else. Great guys to deal with though, and if you like barnard actions they have lots.

Insite, according to their website only has just a few surgon actions in stock nothing else. Unless they have a bunch of stuff not listed on there website.

Go big tactical dosent seem to have much in stock either.

Seems like everyone always says they have tons of stuff in stock and lots more on the way. But they usually dont have much at all.

Than they tell you they have an order on the way and can get what you want if you let them know rite away and give a deposit. 3-4 weeks away at the most they always say. Than it dosent show up for 4 months and in reality they never did have an order on the way they where just trying to get your deposit before you found somewhere else that had what you where looking for. They always new it was 4 months away.

We have a few barreled actions in stock, several actions, and quite a few prefit barrels depending on what you're looking for. We do several build to order requests per month, and a lot of the barreled actions are sold prior to arrival in the shop (such as the Vudoo's)

We do outsource our builds as unlike Insite Arms we are not a gunsmith, however we can typically secure customer orders quickly depending on their needs.

We too look after people, and can get some things much faster than some of our competitors.

I would avoid Curtis Customs like the plague. Lot's of issues, and the quality is not top tier, but you are paying top tier prices for them.

Area 419 doesn't make actions, but they make some great components. I believe GBT sells Area 419 barreled actions, which would be made with top quality actions (excluding what was discussed above), which certainly would be a decent option if they have what the OP wants.

Curious as to what issues you experienced with the Curtis Action?

There's more then a few nightmare stories about them.

A shooting buddy of mine had a Curtis Axiom and a Vector. Both came essentially unshootable from the factory. The bolt face of the Vector looked like a radar dish.

Besides the typical issues of people having a hard time getting them setup to feed from magazines reliably, there's definitely quality issues with the manufacturing. Stories like my friends above, or issues with parts of the actions peening.

Back when Curtis was located in Utah, my friends in the area heard some very ugly things about their manufacturing processes and quality. Seems a lot of the warnings they heeded came true.

Frank Galli has a few come through his classes, and the quality was so bad on every single one he saw that he has felt the need to make comments on several of his podcasts. He never goes out of his way to sh!t talk actions publicly like that, it's pretty bad.

Joel Russo split off from Curtis Customs to create a better product. He recognized the issues with the product line and wanted to address them. The other owner, Chase Curtis, didn't want to address the issues or change anything. So he split off to create Terminus. Apparently customer service has gone to complete sh!t at Curtis since Joel Russo left.

If you want to get a 60° bolt throw 3 lug custom action, I would look towards a Terminus rather then a Curtis. Or just get an AI. Too many red flags and nightmare stories to ever recommend a Curtis. Buyer beware.

So, a lot of hearsay then. I have one and it's superb, extremely happy with it.

I've asked Frank to his face why he's so critical of the action, and he just Franked it away, with no real reason.

I'd also say this, if there's one person in the field of precision rifles that almost everyone respects, it's George of GA Precision.... He has no problem using the action... lots of them.

Cool.

I'll tell my friend that has two paperweights that say 'Curtis Custom' on the side that it's just hearsay.

There's lots of red flags out there about those actions. If you like yours then that's all that counts at the end of the day. I personally wouldn't touch them with what I know - not with all the other great actions out there.

Enjoy your action.

Sorry to hear that your one friend is having some issues... apparently.

It's something that GA Precision lists the Curtis action as one of the best on the market, the Terminus isn't listed...

There's a lot more stories then just my one friend's. Quality issues. Customer services issues. One of the owners leaving to start a new company because of all of the issues that the other owner didn't care to address. Lots of signs that should make anyone paying attention cautious.

I'm obviously not going to change your mind, nor do I care to. It's completely inconsequential to me what action people buy and where they buy it from. It doesn't effect me one bit. But knowing what I know about them, it wouldn't be fair to me to recommend them to other shooters in good conscience.

If you are happy with your action, then it shouldn't matter what I have to say about it.

The original OP asked about good actions. When I look at your posts, you obviously have a lot of experience in precision shooting, rifles and components.

I just think for someone like yourself to disparage a product purely on a bunch of stories is disingenuous. I think for someone like George Gardner to endorse the Curtis action as one of the best on the market holds a tremendous amount of more water than a bunch of stories on the internet...

KSA makes both two and three lug actions / lightweight bottom metal / cut rifled barrels. I have a two lug Wolverine action / couple sets of bottom metal / and three barrels. Top shelf workmanship and service.

K.S. Arms is indeed exceptionall product 👌
