How many of you guys are interested in a 44 spl revolver? Specifically a Charter Arms Bulldog in stainless with a custom barrel legal in Canada.

I'm interested in the demand for this gun.

Price would be about $600 give or take.

Thoughts?

Elmer Keith proved years ago that the .44 Special is a very good cartridge. Flexible & capable of excellent accuracy.

My only concern is that I don't know enough about Charter Arms as far as quality and value for money. How long as the current company been in existence ??

I'd rather see a run of 106mm 329PD's, even at twice that price, but for $600 I would buy one to carry when a 44 mag isn't necessary.

21 ounces (for the 2.5" version) is very appealing.

One of those in .44 Special and a matching one in .22LR would be very tempting. I would really prefer a 3" Bulldog in .44 Special, but we all know how that works out in the land of the overregulated and overtaxed.

Charter Arms doesn't really turn my crank, but I would be very interested if you could get S&W to do a special run of the Model 24 with a 5" barrel.

Not personally interested.

BUT, if you wanted to sell one of the most unique firearms in existance, from Charter Arms, for the Sinister folk who walk among us. Depending on what their minimum custom order is, I'd bet you could easily sell a couple hundred of their lefty revolvers, most likely best seller would be in 357, if you were only going to bring one calibre. Personally, I wouldn't buy one of those either, but I know a lot of wrong handed folk who'd love just such a thing.

I always said I would never buy a .38 Special as long as I could get a .357 magnum, but low and behold there are a couple of .38s in my safe. I also said I would never get a 9mm in favor of a .38 Super, but there's one of those in there too. I guess I should refrain from making a similar statement towards the .44 Special.

"...3" Bulldog in .44 Special..." 19 oz hand cannon. Sort of a niche revolver. The Boss in the shop kept one under the cash register. He shot it one time with 260 grain bullets and cracked the factory wood grip. Didn't bother the frame at all. His 7 year old son had no trouble shooting it at 100 yards(Yep) with 240 grain bullets either.
Don't think a light weight, SS, Charter Arms .44 Special revolver would sell very well. 23 oz with a 4" barrel. Mostly copies of S&W's.

Isn't .44 Spl kind of a rare caliber? I don't see it too often, and when I do it's more expensive than .44 Mag is.

For those of us who don't roll our own(yet), it's something to consider.

I like the revolver though.

Or better yet a Model 29 or 629 with a 4.25" - 5" barrel. That way you have the best of both worlds.... .44 Mag +/or .44 Spl.....

That would also work for me, seeing as I already have lots of .44 Magnum brass. The standard half-lug heavy barrel would be OK, but the Mountain Gun tapered contour would be even better.
