It is good........... unless you actually want to know the price of something.
They seem to have phobia about putting price tags on things.
When I asked the manager about this I got the song and dance of how the US/CAN exchange rate is always changing and there was no way to keep up.
When I asked how any of that affected the price of product that they already purchased all I got was a blank stare.
On top of that when I asked about case lot prices for ammo (I buy a lot of ammo) I was told that all they do is add up the by box price. I then asked what if I buy a pallet of ammo? The answer was add up the by box price.
No thanks, I buy ammo online or from Canadian tire now.

I have [ cross as many digits as possible] had good service everytime I have used Wholesale Sports. About a dozen order's from them so far. In winnipeg at the gundesk there are a couple of very knowledgable staff. a couple of other's back there need some people skills. I get to make a trip in there a couple of times a year, and if the staff doesn't change know who and who not to talk to for good service
Well I put in an order for three items and was told that there was 2 in stock so I ordered two items.
I get the inevitable email that there was only one actually in stock and they could try to get one from another store and that would delay the order 14 days.
Time to cuise the sponsors like I should have the first time.

yep they are pretty bad...at the very least the website should prevent you from ordering items that are not in stock and or might never be in stock. The way its setup now you get a phone call a week later ......?
One of the fundamentals I think should be know in any gun shop including WSP, Is knowing what is Berdan and Boxer primed brass. IMO that is one of the first thing one should know when working in a gunshop. My experience....
I went down to WSP about a month or so and saw them cardboard boxes of 7.62x39, (I didnt know off hand yet they were the same old stuff just in a different box) I asked about them if brass or steel cased, berdan, corrosive ect... the dude said he didnt know much about them.. ok carried on... I saw they also had some of that MFS made ammo and asked about that. Once again my questions.. and he said " didnt know where they were made and he had never heard of the country of Berdan" .....W..T..F.... the COUNTRY OF BERDAN..... u have to be joking...
So naturaly... I chuckled and began to inform of the difference and grabed a bag of cases on the shelf to explain. He didnt like that and excused himself. Ok good buy. Someone else askes me for help and higher up on the food chain, I ask about the same ammo and right off the bat he tells me all about it. Great..awesome..he understands what im saying.

I don't normally buy from WSS, over the years I've found a good range of other suppliers. I did order a pair of $100 goose down mitts for my wife and had to exchange them for a smaller pair. This was 2 years ago. After repeated trips to WSS, I finally found a staff member who walks, talks and thinks! While a pair of these gloves were in stock in Calgary, it was next to impossible to get them transfered. When I asked her why, she informed me that each location is it's own profit center. Transfering product when half of your shelves are empty is against internal store policy. She did find a pair in Kamloops and we offered to have one of our friends in Kamloops pick them up. She declined our offer and did have them transfered to Edmonton one month later. This lady also gave us staff pricing for our inconvenience. Shows you there are still good people out there no matter who they work for.
I usually have pretty good luck with WSS. The only problems that I had was items being out of stock. I ordered some .223 Rem brass and they told me out of stock so I told them to cancel the item. After about 3 weeks I called to see if my order was shipped and they told me they were waiting for the .223 brass to come in. So I canceled the whole order over the phone. Six months later I get a parcel from WSS in the mail and it was a bag of .223 brass and they charged my credit card for the cost. It was over $45 for the brass.
I wasn't a very happy camper.
The other time was when my brother was ordering the recoil reducers for both of our Benelli shotguns. They have the item number in there catalogue. When we ordered them he told my brother that if we get them you will be lucky. But don't hold your breath on getting them. So why would they even have them in the catalogue if they can't get them in.
I just think that they should have some people there that have the experience in firearms and related items and not just a person behind the counter.
One of the sales persons looked for about 30 minutes to find a sizing die and said that they must be sold out. My brother called me and asked what they looked like and he found them in the store in under 5 minutes. The salesperson said, So that's what they look like. Maybe he was just new at the job, but I doubt it.

I placed a transfer from Calgary to Lethbridge for some RCBS parts that they had in Calgary, 3 weeks later no phone call so I called the Lethbridge store and asked about the transfer and was told that they are upgrading the computer system and they are not getting any stock or transfers, and wouldn't see them till approx March 10 I was not informed about this when I ordered them.
yeah things are friggin messed up there huge. I was working part time went in to do a shift and was told Iam no longer on the schedule until further notice as things are slow right now. No notice just removed and that was before xmas still no word.Not a huge deal it was mostly to get out of the house and talk to like minded people. I know close to half the staff at south ed are talking about jumping ship if things dont get better with stock and product availability as it seems calgary judt doesnt give a rats arse. well I hope things get better or it will be over permanently

I get the same phone calls from the same young sweet girl, so I keep ordering and cancelling when she calls to tell me they are out of stock. I'm hoping to get the courage to ask her out on a date the next time I'm in town.
I went into the store in Winnipeg to buy a Weatherby Vanguard in 22-250, they didn't have one in stock, but there was one in Calgary and they would transfer it in. Three weeks later, I was starting to wonder, so I called, it took awhile to find out they couldn't transfer it in, but they had a savage in stock..................I really didn't know what to say to that.

Logan, your first mistake was going to the S'toon Store... IDIOTS there
the gun counter guys are just RUDE and would rather talk to their friends about their duck hunting trip than serve customers. Regina was a lot better.
As for prices, S'toon has nothing marked anymore, and doesn't carry the catalogues.... And you will notice, they charge about 10% more for items than catalogue price!!!!

I sent an email to company headquarters and they couldn't even respond with an automated email reply.
I no longer will step foot in their store in S'toon
Last winter i needed an extension for an ice auger.Calgary didn't have it in stock so I called Lethbridge.They had it but didn't do mail order as it had to go through Calgary and it would take 6 weeks.By that time I could use a boat! Lucky I had someone that was in school In Lethbridge that was coming to Red Deer later in the week.............It's quicker and cheaper to use E-Bay or shop off the internet.....................Harold
