Exactly, because they are made in Japan. Regardless of the leaps and bounds in Japanese manufacturing quality, there is still the stigma.
I honestly don't understand why this stigma would exist with this generation.

I don't know about those other guys, but most of the stuff I rely on, use daily is Japanese. I use Makita Cordless Tools all day long for my trade, and they almost never let me down. Bushnell optics, I have a Sony reciever and a Sharp television. Some of the best cars I have ever owned were Japanese (300zx,Camry, Xtrail). How many great American products do you own? I had a Ford once...Never again. Just my 2 cents
This couldn't be more true. Expect for airplanes. I am pretty happy with the machines I fly and there are all built in the USA or Canada.
They may be built here, but if it's for Air Canada, they will fly them down to a 3rd world country for maintenance to save a few bucks. My neighbour WAS a aircraft mechanic until they shut the maintenance dept down here in Winnipeg. Now he's stuck building busses for Motorcoach Industries.
Who carries these stainless Howa rifles?
The Howa isn't more popular because it's made in Japan and not the US or Europe.
Will Howa guarantee 1" accuracy? Weatherby will.
Aside from that are there any other pertinent differences ?
The Howa does come with bases / rings included and as near as I can find the Weatherby does not, probably why the Howa costs more.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to stir up an argument, simply curious because I can get either one in the chambering I want and visually they appear to be almost identical..
