please post your rants about wholesale sports here:

I'm livid right now having returned from edmonton wholesales sports, where i went to pick up some gun blue and other odds/ends. as i was walking through the store, i picked up two headlamps for a marked price of $25 each. when i went up to the till to buy the items i had picked up, i noticed they had been rang in for $35 each. when i mentioned to the cashier, she called one of the managers (?) over who identified himself as Dave GEORGE. after checking, he tells me they had made a mistake, they were marked incorrectly, and there was no way the store could lose $20 on selling them to me at the indicated price.

there was a bit of discussion back and forth, my feeling being that it wasn't my mistake and the store should honour their committment. in fact, many other stores have the fair pricing act (scanning code of conduct) where they reimburse $10 for the first item if the listed price is lower that the price indicated on the cash register. his comment was they make error and they can't be responsible for them. the comment back was that they need to train their employees better to stop making errors like this that inmpact upon their customers who pay his wages. anyways, the argument went back and forth with dave being an inflexible pr*ck who wouldn't honour the pricing.

as such, i left the store without purchasing anything and will not shop at wholesale anymore. some of specialty stores piss and moan about losing customers to big box stores but don't do anything to foster customer loyalty such as has occurred today. over the years, I've dropped about $15,000 at their store as i've been shopping there, starting at klondike arms on gun row, since the early 80's when they were bought out and turned into wholesale sports. every since they've opened up their big store on the yellowhead, the service has just gotten poorer and poorer.

if this was an isolated incident, i wouldn't feel too bad about it. however, in a previous/recent encounter, i drove in from my residence to wholesale sports (a 45 minute drive each way) to purchase something that had been quoted to me earlier in the day over the phone as having cost XX amount of dollars. (as their cataloge isn't out yet, i phoned in to get a price). when i got there, the price has gone up by $30 and when i complained about the quote over the phone from 2 hours earlier and my trip into the store to purchase the item, one of the managers told "too bad" but he couldn't do anything about it.

as many others have mentioned, the service at P & D is much better and that's where I'll be taking my gun related/reloading purchases to from now on!! i really hope cabella's opens up in calgary/edmonton soon as that's where i'll be taking my hunting/fishing/outdoors purchases to. wholesale can kiss my big butt goodbye as i'm not shopping there anymore!!

I've stopped being pissed off at WSS so much recently, 'cause I've simply accepted the fact of their ####tiness, and no longer make special trips to WSS; rather checking with P&D first.

wtf is wrong with people? you arent going to shop at their store because someone made a mistake on the price? god forbid someone made a mistake and you dont get to save $20 on a couple items:rolleyes: buddy, you have serious problems if you get so angry over something so stupid.

im guessing they are more than happy to not have to deal with someone that makes such a big deal over $20 anyways;)

I always have excellent service from WSS...Of course, I only deal wiht mail order, but they have been very good, and always let me know if there is a problem wiht my order, and fix the problem if possible.:)

I'll probbaly set foot in one this summer in Kamloops for the first time.

It is all about expectations. You set yours high and as a result, have now decided that you will no longer patronize Wholesale. Lets hope that nothing goes wrong at the next store or you soon won't have a place to shop.

People that think you are whining have not shopped at wss or do not appreciate good service, I go to P&D now. P&D prices are a little higher but it is worth it for there excellent, honest service.

hey buddy, go back and read the post a bit more carefully, i've had service from them that's been getting ####tier and ####tier over the past 2 years and this was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. li've dropped about 15 grand in their store over the past years and am showing my displeasure by not shopping there anymore. they've saved $20 to lose about $15,000 over the next decade, -

end of story

ps, hasn't your mom ever told you that if you get slapped on the back when you roll your eyes, you'll be crosseyed forever

do you want a cookie for spending $15k there over the years? at a small shop this would get yu better service, at a large store like this they could really care less. i thought this was common knowledge, but i guess not?

what has this waste of forum space solved? you gave us a good laugh and mde yourself look like a whiner. thanks:D

PS. hasnt your mom ever told you to not be a whiner and the world doesnt revolve around you? you think you are some godly customer because you have dropped 15k there and you are upset that you didnt get to save $20. quite simple really if you ask me.

seems to me that P&D actually has stock in their store....everytime I try to order from wholesale everything is back ordered. Would be nice if there website would tell you that when you place an online order so when you need it bad you can go and look else where.. Actually had my first deallings with P and D yesterday, emailed them some questions about a particular rifle and got a timely responce, probably about 10 minutes. After six or so emails we shared back and forth I ordered that particular rifle from them and it is in the mail as we speak. Previous dealings with wss have not gone that well I email a question only to get a responce a week and a half later and don't bother trying to call the mail order phone number because you have a better chance of getting through to the CFC then a order clerk who cannot answer questions but can tell you that what you are ordering is 8 dollars more then you expected to pay because of the canadian dollar value, then they tell you that is back ordered anyway. I do not like their new website but I do like their catalogues as I can Isle shop on my couch and order it from someone else, it is just nice to know what is available.

The root cause of the problems at WSS is their ordering/logistics. It's apalling.

When was the last time a WSS catalog wasn't horribly late? The Edmonton WSS doesn't even have any store copies of their current catalog. Then the catalog itself is basically just an adjusted price list from each of the manufacturers they supposedly carry. There's stuff in their catalog that they don't stock, have never stocked, and if the truth were to be told - couldn't even get *if* they wanted to. When do you think the last jug of VV powder passed through their hands (if ever?)

There's obviously no inventory taken or ordering happening when stock starts to get low. Sure some items my be slow sellers or hard to get, but there is absolutely zero excuse for running out of powder, primers, .22's or butler creek 10.22 mags. All high-selling items, and all items that can be had at P&D any day of the year.

Now, let's look at how a GOOD mail order company is run. Cabela's. They have a coherent and continuously updated website, real-time online inventory display and fast shipping.

my goodness, but who peed in your conflakes this am??? you're right as apparently wholesales doesn't give a sh#t about their customer service. however, ike i said, i'm making my point by not shopping at wholesale anymore because their customer service has gotten crappier and crappier over the past while. we all have a choice that we can make when we deal with others.

one of the things that my mom told me that really stuck with me was that you don't get into a public pissing contest with a pig, because you"ll end up smelling and the pig will end up enjoying it. so.... end of of silly discussion from me to you and vice versa.

Gotta love wholesale. I live 5 min from there store and still won't stop there unless there the last place in town and I need it right away.

I don't think this applies to all WSS stores but certainly the one in Edmonton, the customer service is rubbish and the gun counter and optics counter ideas of service are despicable!

actually, am not sure why expecting to pay the price physically marked on the items is setting my expectations too high. also, perhaps you could tell me how my expectations are too high when i'm quoted a price over the phone and then drive 45 minutes only to find out the phone price is a mistake because it's too low.

perhaps this is how it's done in ontario, but here in alberta, a bit more honesty/integrity is generally expected. as other posters have mentioned, we do believe/expect some customer service out west.

Actually I beleive they are required by law to honour the lowest sticker price. Call Alberta Consumer and Corporate Affairs and lodge a complaint.

I've never heard of such a law but if there was one it would be an ass. Anyone could go into any store and switch price tags on an item and/or the price tag on the shelf and then demand to pay the lower price. :slap: That'd be pretty cool getting a $50 headlamp for the price of a set of batteries right beside it. :onCrack:

Ive stopped ordering hunting equipment from wholesale. As said before its stocking issues. I will how ever order ammunition from them.

I get my hunting equipment from Cabelas now. Sure you pay more but their custimer service is top notch. I ordered a jacket from them and it ripped and they replaced it without me sending it back or me having to pay for anything. That to me is worth shopping there.
