Why is there so much politics in IPSC Ontario?

(whisper mode on, hey Trit whats this Bartledan guy like, has he really become that good, or have the rest of you been dogging it so you can misdirect the competition. :p whisper mode off)

Dogging. Definately

These guys have been dogging so hard... why, I haven't seen this much sandbagging since flood season in Manitoba!

I even stink literally, more than 50% of the time.

You guys will see what I mean at the provincials. Cliff, you stay home, OK?

well tritium having only met you once i cant really say to much but at least sometime in the near future there will be someone shorter then you in IPSC.
my wife is studying to take her pal tests and saving to get started in IPSC hopefully in the fall i'll be able to get her into the pal courses and start setting her up with the gear she needs

hey, now did I ever criticize your gun choice? Can't go much better than the HK!

What did I say "Buy one of the big 4: Beretta, Glock, HK, and Sig." I bought the least expensive, you bought the most :)

Now I'm buying a Tanfoglio... WTF?

The Glock is a great gun. Unbelieveable, really. I'm interested to try a really first rate single action trigger, though. And the Tan is so damned pretty!

Hey I wasn't dissing your Glock or your choice in guns, I meant it seriously. I am sure the Tanfoglio is going to be a wicked gun. I was just a little surprised that you were switching to the Tanfoglio as you seemed very pleased with the Glock at Peterborough and it seemed to work well for you.

I think someone is just trying to be funny...

I have never seen anyone do something like this on the range during a course of fire no less...and certainly not Earl...

Now afterwards at the bar...say maybe the Hilltop for intance...everyone is fair game

Well I was 'trying' :) but unfortunaltely maybe I'm not as funny as I think :(

Of course the wife has been telling me that for years...

Even if someone did shout I doubt I'd hear them with plugs and earmuffs on. Sometimes I wish even the RO's would speak up a bit.

I got the plugs and muffs habit from PPC shooting years ago when if you got down to 10 yards with 6 shots to got with a perfect score the whole firing line would start taking the p... trying to put you off.

and hey, people say there's politics in IPSC :)

Put the politics on ignore and have a good time!! Those who play that game are the loosers in the end..........all they get is an ulsur.

Poltics is something that seems to start at the top end. While I have only been Black Badged for four years or so, I have noticed that it is or appears limited to the egos of those who are in charge or on top.

Much like our martial arts federations, wherein masters dont talk or even walk with lower dans, results is a split which degrades the sport.

To get around this sort of prima dona types, I usually tell them to leave the ego somewhere else if they start their nonsense around me. I dont want to know who got screwed by who, who is a gamer a cheat, a sciver. I could care less. Just shoot and shut up if you start the politics crap

what politics does is ruin the sport, and it does it in a manner that disgusts people, and can turn friends into enemies. The vast majority of politics in my rather vast experience with politics, is that too many egos makes for too much politics and it destroys it for everyone else.

what is not taken into account by these ego maniacs is what does their ego/bragadocio/I am god/special type of attitude do to those who are not as good as they are. Pretty demeaning.

Politics rarely begins at the bottom, directly because of the lack of knoweldge and experience within the organization. Talk to some of the newbies about the politics, I have.

Several have said they could do without it, and if it continues too much longer, they will do a shooting sport that doesnt involve so many "morons trying to be idiots" (their words not mine).

So politics does destroy the sport incrementaly, just like eating an elephant.. a bit at a time. eventually regardless it be IPSC or basket weaving, the damagae will become irreparable.

There used to be only one Taekwon-Do federation began in 1955 It was the ITF. because of ego and politics, there was a split from which left the ITF and the WTF. a few years later, more ego and politics and we have ITF, WTF, GTF, and now another split where in we have five more taekwon-Do federations.

The only people who have suffered are not the masters, but the lower belts who were forced to pick sides. Is this the way IPSC will go?

hmm oddly enough I have found the opposite, for the most part the bulk of the GMs and Ms Ive talked to are really friendly and offer helpful tips..

I can't agree with this sentiment at all. I have been shooting IPSC for quite a bit more than four years, and my experience has been that hat the politics crosses all divisions and ranks. It is not necessarily started by people at the top or by Prima-Donna Master ranked shooters, and it has little if anything at all to do with ego. It is however, generally started by people (of whatever rank) who tend to like to postulate theories about people or events without bothering to get all the facts. In other words; people who let emotion override intellect.

Those of you out there who know me know that I don't give a rats ass about what anyone else's rank is, or about politics, or about anything other than having fun, enjoying to company of my friends, and shooting to the best of my ability.
