Well, here is a boar hunt form a Western standpoint...I hunted boars in Ontario, Spring 2005.
Is it a 'canned hunt?" no
Is it alot of fun? HELL YES!!!
Is it strictly 'fair chase?" well, no not really. Not int he traditional sense, but I'll explain...
We were in a big area, that was fenced on all sides. So the boars couldn't run over the next mountain range, like in BC.
But it's not like we didn't have to WORK for it, eihter...
A couple of guys could spend a week there and only get a glimpse of a boar.
We had about 10 guys, and over 2 days we only managed to nail 7 boars.
In many ways, the huntign was tougher than alot of hunting out here for bears or deer or moose. If you are not prepared to run alot, sit in knee deep water, get covered in mud, CHASE those boars down and shoot a bow on running animals, stay home!!
It is a ####load of FUN, it sure as hell isn't shooting fish in the barrel, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Big area, using bows, and the critters where FAST and WILEY.
