Wilson Combat "Border Patrol" Shotgun ( NOW WITH PICS)

Are these vang comped or whatever forcing coned? It's not ported I can see that. What's the furniture? Looks like standard Remington tactical plastic. Am I missing something here? I bought a similar bag from Canada tire for $25. The sights are nice yes. What kind of recoil pad is that? It's not a limbsaver. I don't want to hate but something isn't adding up. I'll have to watch hickok45's Review

Most of the 1400 bux imo is the Wilson Combat name. I dunno what vang is. It isnt ported. The furniture is just Speedfeed. Its just a 870 that Wilson Combat pimped out. Most stuff they did to it, you probably cant see like springs etc... Its something you would have to feel and experience when shooting.

Adjustable Trak–Lock® Ghost Ring Rear Sight, Ramp-Type Front Sight with Tritium Insert

18” Cylinder Bore Barrel with 3” Magnum Chamber

Extended Magazine Tube, Total Capacity: 6+1 Rounds

Synthetic Speedfeed® Buttstock and Forend ( Its just a shorter LOP stock as I understand, no spot for ammo.) Thats what the yellow "SF" Stand for. Looks like a SpeedFeed 2.

High-Visibility, Non-Binding Follower

Extra-Power Heavy-Duty Stainless Magazine Tube Spring

Jumbo Head Safety

Buttstock Swivel and Rigid Magazine Tube Sling Mount

Armor-Tuff® Finish

The Vang Comp System (VCS), designed by gunsmith Hans J. Vang, is a set of modifications to shotgun barrels. The alterations to the barrel consist of lengthening the forcing cone, back-boring the barrel, and adding compensating ports. With the VCS, accuracy significantly improves, felt recoil is dramatically reduced, and muzzle rise diminishes. By lengthening the forcing cone, the pellets have a smooth flow from the chamber to the bore. This prevents the pellets from bunching up in the barrel and reduces the felt recoil. In addition, the pellets do not become as deformed and keep a more consistent shape.

That's what I meant.

Ya it doesnt have that lol. Im sure it would be 1000 more if it did lol.

I have owned a 870P MAX, and this gun is better then that gun. Both cost around the same. You do get the surfire front end with the 870Pmax, as well as Ghost ring sights etc.. Id say out of the box the Wilson Combat is way better. The 870P max i had was picky on what ammo it would feed smoothly, use to get hung up on Hornady Zombie stuff.

Another negative imo is that the trigger guard is polymer not steel. If i had it back i would have purchased a 590A1, as i have owned one before. Its a much better gun all the way around at less then half the price of this one.

The recoil pad says speedfeed on it. Its no limbsaver.

I just tried all the other shotguns I have, older 1960s 870 wingmaster, 500, 590, and i have to say the action on the Wilson Combat is the smoothest of all of them, its really smooth. That does stand out above all other things.

GunGuy…Nice Scattergun!
Slipper…here's what a 590A1 with the VCS mod looks like vs non.

Holy bejeezus! They go all the way to the chamber? Is that what I'm seeing? Does the porting make a big difference? Gawd damn I am a sucker for a 590A1. No wait the upper one is an 870. I can read Nevermind. Ya man buy what you want any shotgun is a good shotgun. They go boom and stuff kersplodes. My Favorite is still my $250 500 field that came pgo. So I can't really comment. Nice gun enjoy.

Slipper…the forcing cone is lengthened and the barrel back-bored. Combined with the porting the felt recoil and muzzle rise are reduced. Not sure about how big a difference the ports make because the heavy-walled 590A1 barrel already did a good job(due to its mass).
The forcing cone and back-bore mods consistently put cheap Winchester 00Buck into 12-15" groupings @ 25yrds. These two mods made the biggest change in the SG.
Nothing wrong with a PGO SG. Have a JIC myself with a ShockWave Raptor grip and enjoying it!

If the same internal work was done to my Magpul Express Tactical 870, I'd wager that it would be a better shotgun.

Better stock and forend, comparable resistant finish, comparable sights, comparable barrel length, plus the added features of a top rail and option to use a choke.

Although likely only a few dollars cheaper on the end, with the added cost of the internal smithing.

Sounds like a little bit of buyers remorse as 1400 for a pump action smooth bore is alot of money . But it is more unique than the average home defence shotgun , and I am sure it will grow on you in time . It is a good looking shotty .....ENJOY !

No not at all. Just wanted to give an unbiased review is all. Im still happy with it. Ok maybe a tad buyers remorse lol.

Fu(< it! GunGuy34 pack that b!tch up and send it to Casey at TacOrd.
El346l6 pretty sure they start with an express they need some margin for profit. As for your magpul stock wait a year, everyone is going to look at their shotguns and say "what the Fu(< was I thinking? this thing is fawking stupid. Anyone want to trade for some hogues?". I think the Wilson sights have abit of an edge over yours as well. All you have to do is check out the tactical shotgun thread and see everyones different styles. One of the last posts has some guy that bought a pmax 870 then added another $2500 worth of sh!t to it. Me I use broccoli bands for a ghetto over molded grip on my homemade birds head grip.

I love my 870 Express Tactical with Ghost ring glow sights, breach break, and the 8 shot extended tube, The Wilson is the same Idea minus the Break but made a lot nicer than a normal 870

Lol the Scattergun Technologies made me laff too!

I doubt the Wilson needs 500 cycles before its smooth as a baby's bottom.

Probably came that way

She is pretty dam smooth right out of the box, im happy with it. More i play with it, more i like it.

And that sir is the Difference between it and a new 870 out of the box, and the attention to detail and the finish would be a little nicer too

I sat with mine and some oil and racked it over and over with snap caps for hours and hours watching tv to smooth mine out when I was in the mood, Im sure an anti would think I was In a psychotic episode but I just like to take care of clean and work in my firearms before use in a lot of cases :p

My last 870 barrel that I had VC'd was about $200...

I know I'm a newb but what's VC'd?

I love my 870 express but I also had to spend a lot of time refitting and racking it, to make it feel right and have a smooth cycle.

And it may shoot nice now but it wont have near as nice a finish as the Wilson a Police or Even an Old Winchester Pump if you know what I mean, You get what you pay for in some cases 8)
