Win, lose or draw. How was the panic buy before the freeze

I ended up buying 2 that I don't really want, but thought why not?
I didn't get exactly what I wanted with any of my purchases, seemed I was always a day late or a week early.

Now Im trying to find a decent first sks shooter that isn't overpriced, and having the same issue. Bah

I like the ruger pc9 I picked up on sale though. So there's that.

Managed to get this too.

FWIW, I basically found everything I wanted - but buying 12 pistols in under 3 months was a bit of a kick in the nads/wallet. Luckily, I really only overpaid on 1 of them.

I was able to find a Glock 17 Gen 4 a few days after the initial announcement (it wasn't the MOS I really wanted, but it is a Gen 4 which mattered more to me) for the pre-announcement regular price, and then was able to be first in line to purchase a Glock 44 in mid-August, again for the pre-announcement price of $528 from Monashee Outdoors in Armstrong, BC which I'll likely not see until February.

I have my new 17 in hand and the registration certificate arrived on Friday so it's going to go on a field trip to the range tomorrow.

Man, I only managed to get two more-- a Pietta SAA and a PSA Dagger.

Honestly, with the way the economy is going for me (decreased income last few years) and raging inflation, I just couldn't justify taking on that much debt if it weren't directly benefitting my family. Hats off to the gentlemen (and ladies) who were able to throw caution to the wind and just "git 'er dun!" Not only did they collectively manage to increase overall HG numbers but they also helped decrease the financial hit that our many fine retailers will now have to endure.

Truly another sad footnote to the increasingly bleak outlook for our once-great country.

Added a couple of revolvers to round out the collection

- Ruger GP100 6" blued
- Ruger Single six stainless

Not true anymore.

Unfortunately they are sticking to ‘with exemption only’ transfers. From the ‘Gun Blog’:

Government Response

Tim Warmington, a spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety, e-mailed the following statement to TheGunBlog.ca this evening in response to our request for clarification on the date.

The national freeze on handguns came into force following approval by the Governor General and registration, the latter of which occurred on October 21, 2022, through regulatory amendments to the Firearms Act. The regulations are in force: https://orders-in-council.canada.ca/attachment.php?attach=42706&lang=en as the regulations prescribed the coming into force date as the registration date.

The text of the regulations will be published officially in the Canada Gazette on Nov 9, 2022. Until then, a courtesy copy of the regulations are temporarily posted on the Public Safety Canada website : https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cntrng-crm/frrms/2022-rgltns-tmp-en.aspx

For more information on the regulatory process, please refer to the Department of Justice reference guide entitled, How new laws and regulations are created.

I found the section and prices on wheel guns stayed pretty decent, especially older models that arnt as popular like blackhawks, and double action 38’s. some solid deals were available on those classics.

The more popular stuff like pythons and model 17’s went a bit high in prices.
