Hi all, first post. Thought I'd share....
Had a chance to shoot winchester Xpert 36gr HP against Federal Champion 36gr HP copper plated.
This all started when I inherited a Cooey 64B from my dad a few weeks prior and bought a new Savage Mark II B the other day. I bought the Winchesters first, when I received the Cooey. Experienced miss feeds and failed ejects. Figured it was the gun. Bought a box of Federal to go with the new savage. Cleaned both guns, did a thorough tear down of the Cooey and off plinking I went.
The teardown made a difference with the Cooey, could empty the 10 round clip on either ammo with the same reliability, the odd dud, the odd failed eject. Nothing as annoying as prior to the teardown.
The Savage bolt action absolutely HATED the winchester ammo. Failed to feed like crazy. Jam city. The Federals? Ate 'em up and wanted more. Going back out tomorrow to a friend's to mount a scope and fine tune it. Should be fun.
