Anyone own one? How do you like it? Been mulling over the idea of buying one for a little while now. I have a Windham Bushmaster and love it. I hear it's the same people from that factory that run Windham Weaponry now after Bushmaster sold out.

There have been a few threads on WW rifles recently, a search might bring them up :) I have a WW SRC with a Burris 332 on it and I love it. General consensus from those that own them is very positive.

I am thinking of picking one up myself and have been poking around the last month reading reviews. Everything I have come up with is looking good, everyone who has one likes it. The only negative comment one person made was about the price but he was in the states and they have more selection/competition and we end up paying more $ because of imports.

I was comparing it to a Core15 but i saw some really bad reviews on warranty service and customer service in general on them.

Life long transferable warranty on WW rifles and the commercial spec tube could result in needing to switch it out but most stock makers offer commercial tube versions. It's my one and only gripe really but kind of a non issue for most of us.

just because its not Milspec, doesn't mean much really. In fact the commercial spec tube is larger.

The Windham has lifetime transferrable warranty, flared mag well, railed gas block, removable muzzle device, gov't profile barrel, forward assist and dust cover, front, rear and middle sling mounts and some other things.

as well, the fit and finish are on par with more expensive rifles.

it has a nice crisp(for stock) trigger.

it also has a solid firing pin strike. No light strikes, even on Norinco and AE .223 ammo.

it ejects fairly fiercely.

all mags I have used don't just drop free, they leap out :)

its also quite accurate for a low to mid level service rifle. At 50 meters with only a reflex sight I can make a nice little loonie size group(20 shots). At 200 it puts 7 of 10 on an 8" target. Norinco and MFS cheap cheap ammo too.

Never a failure of any kind at all since I bought this one.

also, I was talking via email to the warranty people to see how they respond and its all been very positive.

Don't have any experience with windham, another brand to consider is core15, good value for money. I am very happy with mine.

X2.... In January I went to Wanstalls to buy a WW... While there I handled both WW and the CORE15... In the end I took the CORE home. I found the fit and finish of the CORE was superior. Almost 2000 rounds down range, and I have been very happy with my choice.

It's funny this seems to go either way, one person tries the WW and the CORE and says that the WW has better fit and finish another guy tries the same thing and says it's the CORE that's better. Form this I have to gather overall they are pretty close and it comes down to individual taste.

I own a WW, and i love it, no need to pay more for a AR. The fit and finish are really impressive for the price. I Dont know why people need a milspec buffer ?

From what I have read and researched both WW and Core and their employess are direct descendants from the Bushmaster glory days

I bought a WW two weeks ago, have yet to see it thanks to the slow registration transfer.
Hopefully I'll get it before I'm too old to shoot it...... ( rant over ).

just because its not Milspec, doesn't mean much really. In fact the commercial spec tube is larger.

Two things, first, a milspec tube and a commercial tube can be of the same build quality. The designations do not necessarily determine manufacturing quality, although a true milspec tube is to be made to a certain standard. Second, although a commercial tube has a larger overall diameter along the tube the threads have a smaller overall diameter. Although they both have the same thread pattern the commercial threads are not as tall. The reality is that commercial tubes exist because it is cheaper to make them if the overall diameter remains constant across the whole tube.

Not to say that the quality of WW is not up to snuff, but it is an indication that cost saving measures have been taken. From what I have read I would recommend the rifle, but I wouldn’t bet a persons life on it.

There are LE groups in the US that currently do, and more are testing and evaluating WW rifles for duty use as they become better know and get better exposure. The WW site has a newsletter section that has a lot of good information about the company, it's activities and their rifles. It's actually a good way to get to know more about them.

And there are military forces outfitted with the Norinco M4.

Don't trust the Bean Counters to make the best tactical decision.

At the end of the day here, its a paper puncher.

I believe I recall watching a video on YouTube done by MAC where they said that they batch test their barrels. Where as other companies test every barrel. I am not sure about you but if I was betting someone’s life on it I would personally take the rifle with the 100% quality control standard.

No agenda on my part, everyone should get the rifle they think suits them best. The OP asked for feedback from people who owned a WW rifle, he didn't ask what was the best rifle for life and death situations (a topic I freely admit I have no first hand experience with) however I do own an WW rifle, did a lot of research before I bought it and I like it, just trying to answer the OPs question, not get into a debate on which brands make the best ARs :)

Lol… I said I would recommend the rifle but would not put it on par with the high end more expensive rifles out there… the buffer tube is a simple indication that it is a mid-grade rifle, there is nothing wrong with that… what’s the issue? You don’t like to hear the cons with the pros?
