WK180c Practical Review with Pics and Video

I got my wk 180c through wanstalls, so it was one of the earlier one's, just wondering if the guys that are getting one from the latest batch have the same issues with STANAG magazines

Mine arrived today. I bought it from the Calgary shooting Center. I almost immediately installed my magpul one piece stock. Pics on my IG. Did lots of weight comparison to my SLR and STI 3 gun rifle with an 18" barrel. I was surprised.

I have two WK’s. First one was sent back for chamber work. The second one has a tight chamber but it doesn’t bow orpuerce the primers. Both of the rifles work flawlessly with RRA steel Lar 15 mags.

I dont understand these snow dunks... do people honestly expect a gun to jam because it had snow dumped on it ?
Edit nvm, just read the trigger part ! eeek haha real thorough review !

Yeah...I was laughing at people too when the rifle first came out worrying about it.
But it sure as hell did kill it. Not even jammed; resulted in a jammed up hung hair trigger! Malfunction and dangerous one at that :S

I ran a few rounds through it before winter but I think I was using my magpuls at the time, storming right now but if the storm stops I will try the d&h mags out.
I need to make some air holes in my burn barrel anyways.

I tried two which I had from my da556 they both sat so low the bolt couldnt even pick up a round to seize up like with all other steel brands.

They worked in my Colt sp1, my armalite ar, my old xcr and even my older 180b

I just tried 5 dummy rounds and a couple of glitches on picking up last round
These are the really light dummies
Otherwise good pickup and ejection with the one mag

I don't have an extensive collection of AR mags, but total I've probably got around a 100 or so from the following 14 manufactures and their functioning in the WK-180 all appear to be good with the exception of two (old Thermolds and Radway Greens). All are 30 round bodies unless noted.
I should add that my WK didn't have any chambering issues and aside from some cheaper internal parts, didn't have any other QC issues.

Plastic:

Thermold - Original CF issue. They suck and I don't use them, but they are un-damaged aside from being pinned and work well for displaying the earlier C8 and C7 builds. They don't trip the bolt hold open on a charged mag, so I'd need to file the gap at the spine wider for the bolt hold open tab to drop down. I'm not modifying them to see if they work, 'cause I don't care.

Magpul - several generations, 1, 2 & 3 I think - they all work, feed and eject; a couple don't seem to drop as freely as others.

Hera - Came with the rifle. Work and function fine, drop free.

IMI - 10 or 20 round bodies, Work and function fine, one (out of the 4 I have) doesn't drop free.

ATRS pistol - 20 round bodies, Work and function fine. All drop free. (although I've shaved them down to drop free in an AR, and these were tight when new).

Metal STANAG* type mags:

*I'm going on the assumption that all metal mags follow the STANAG dimensional tolerances.

- RRA pistol (10 round bodies) (both new and old style) - function fine and drop free.

- C Products SS - Function fine and drop free.

- 50 Beowulf (CMMG?) metal in a 20 round body - function fine and drop free.

- Armalite metal 20 round body - function fine and drop free.

- Colt (20 and 30 round bodies) - function fine and drop free.

- NHMTG - function fine and drop free.

- D&H - function fine and drop free.

- Okay - function fine and drop free.

- Radway Green - drop free and function fine with the exception of the last round which the bolt overrides and won't strip. OK with me as these mags are a bit of an abortion like the Thermolds.

Yep have an old AR 180b with a Nodak as well
never any problems eats all ammo uses all mags.
Great firearm

My old Ar180bs were awesome as well.
I only ever let them go as parts were unobtanium and I didn't want to end up with a 2200 paperweight.
Actually on my second one shooting it in cold weather, the nub on the back plate of the op spring guides that keeps the upper receiver closed sheered off during firing. It looked like Chinese pot metal inside!
I managed to source a spare in the US and had to literally go to grey sketchy expensive areas to get it.....lol it was sold very shortly after

This rifle is now up for sale. It probably shouldn't drive me that crazy as it is extremely reliable with the plastic mags but I just can't get over it.
It's like a crippling hang nail...
I'm going to try me out the T81. Maybe I never should have turned my back on rustic mass produced Communist hardware lol
