Are you guys serious? This next set is obviously a wolf aswell. Look at the ear proportions. Look at the width of its nose.

What is making you guys say coyote?

There are less than a hand full of wild hybrids ever seen, and those where in the deep south of the US years ago.

I dont think this is accurate at all. There are plenty of hybrids in Ontario. In fact, Im pretty sure I read something that most eastern coyotes tested had traces of Wolf DNA. I cant recall where I read this, but I dont think I dreamt it.

As for why I think its a yote, strictly based on size. Its just not big enough...although its quite possible that its a juvenile or a runt of the litter. But most likely because its not pure wolf

Looks like a typical wolf to me, nothing in that pic resembles any coyote I've seen around here.

I've seen wolves solo several times in Central and Southern Ontario, and I've trailed solo wolves for quite some distance on snowshoes but didn't catch up though quite close in thick brush. A couple of them were huge. In this pic I say Eastern wolf.

I have looked at the picture several times and I just keep coming back to the opinion it's a wolf. Now I realize it's in Ontario so comparing apples to oranges when it comes to western vs eastern coyotes but it appears long legged to me to be a yote and that snout shape says wolf to me. With all the crazy hybrids in Ontario I suppose only a DNA test would give 100% proof positive. I have friends in the Ft.Erie area that do driven coyote hunts and I have seen some BIG nasty looking coy-dogs they have killed. It doesn't look like any of those I have seen so I am ruling that out.

Second picture is a female wolf, hence the narrower head and slighter build, but most assuredly a wolf, probably a younger female as well but not a juvenile I wouldn't guess. I have seen and shot wolves in the Yukon ranging from 70 lb females to 175 lb males, wolves like bears and people come in a lot of different sizes and size is a very poor trait to hang one's opinion on. The second wolf although not as large as the first.....by a stretch.....is still a wolf, but my guess, as I said, would be a younger female. When you have seen enough of these two animals it becomes apparent immediately which is which and there is as many differences in appearance and mannerisms as between whitetail deer and mulies..........those two animals in the photos are wolves, without a hint of doubt for me anyway.
