Wolverine on the Hill....

Thanks John and Matt.. It's nice that John can dredge up so many facts about his history with classifications and the FRT.. I think we all learned stuff..

You guys are the bomb.

Regardless of the immediate impact, taking the fight to parliament shows them that the community and industry is willing to stand up for itself. Everyone in that room and all who tuned in were witness to accurate information; a seemingly rare occurrence these days. Even the morale boost to the community is huge when a non-org industry member takes the initiative to fight for us.

Thank you Wolverine, you set the bar high and are one hell of an example for the rest to follow! And I'm sure more than a few will do that in their own way. You support us, and in turn you have my support.

..also, you bring in cool guns and I think that's just dandy

It seemed as though you raised awareness on the RCMP, but, I suspect the politicians will still take the easy way out, and divest themselves of anything that can be considered controversial to deal with. Thanks for your efforts!!!

Now that you've had your 15 mins in the spotlight, impressions as to how seriously the committee is taking the massive opposition and backlash to the bill?

Firstly there is not a massive backlash against this Bill. There are 6,000 Licensed Firearm Business Dealers and 2.1 million PAL holders the "Backlash" is pitiful, anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional! Wolverine Supplies was the only Firearms Business to make a presentation to the Committee, what does that tell us? Only 70 Briefs presented in total.

As for the Committee members, only one has a PAL, one other had some firearms training as a youngster. One admitted to have never heard of the FRT and I suspect none of the others had heard of it before and understood what an FRT was. We didn't have enough time to explain this. So here we have a Committee about to give total control for firearms classification to the RCMP, with out appeal yet they do not understand how the current system works.

We were commended on a well written and researched Brief but I feel our efforts were seen as the total representation from the Firearms Business community and basically it was to little to late.

I don't think we will have made any difference but I least Wolverine tried.

This Bill is going to pass unless there is indeed massive opposition but I am not optimistic this is going to happen.

Get ready to loose all semi auto firearms, it is only a matter of time.

^^^^ sad but true John!!! Out of the 2million how many even know what’s going on? 200 tho members here but not all active members and many who are libs who not care or are willingly to go along.

It’s so sad ...how these people rule us ......they don’t have a clue ...but they know about every political problem in the world etc..etc..etc..
And stand there ...here in canada just like goats looking at us while there pockets are filling up with money and perks of there job...
And they smile and nod there heads at us and ram there own #### down our throats.....
Maybe it’s time for a new political party ...to rise and make things right ...make sense ......not look good and run backwards but to be right

I tried working with a firearms organization to get this on public airwaves, and the engagement was good, I was very hopeful. Made several calls to media outlets to get pricing and such and passed it along... Since then the person I was working with has gone completely silent even after multiple messages sent and I do not know what to make of that - I am hopeful that it is just a quiet before the storm kind of thing as to why I have been left in the dark, but who knows.

Maybe this is something that the businesses can come together and do. If 6000 businesses put $10 (or: 100 @ 600, 1000 @ 60 etc) that would be enough money to run a prime time TV advertisement that would reach many more firearms owners to trigger the kind of backlash needed to shut down this bill and make the government gun shy.

It does not need to be an elaborate campaign, simply one that brings awareness to the petition, the bill and how to voice their displeasure. 30 seconds, run for two weeks would definitely work!

I am sure, if this is done the businesses that put their name behind it will be appreciated by all sensible gun owners.

The sad thing is that we accept it, look at the minimum opposition to C 71 from with in our own ranks.

In my experience we have seen that the vast majority of firearm owners are not really bothered about getting involved, they don't know and don't care and they will shop for the cheapest price often even ignoring Canadian businesses, so no wonder our industry is weak and divided.
