Would you buy a rifle that is on the looming C21 amendment list?

The sheer fact that you are asking this... indicates that the shooting sports may not be for you. Try soccer.

I disagree. Since gun ownership means so little to him, taking up knitting would be more suitable.

In answer to the original question:
I would not buy one. I'd buy four. Actual or possible gun bans make the affected guns more attractive, not less.
(the Kodiak in particular isn't my favorite, but I'm in for, lets say, multiple Tavors).

People should really look at the practicability of C-21 IF it becomes law. How are they gonna do that. They spent 10 million in making up a list of gun values a 3 grader could have done better. Then the cops don't have any resources and IF, do they want to go house to house and collect? No resources on top of that. Then they will be using a almost 10 year old registry or what? I may have one left from back then. Will they demand that I hand over the other 20 I have sold long time ago? They want to crawl into basements? Yes, the sheep will hand over their guns. Only the restricted ones are clear cut, the rest is as muddy as quick sand.

Hi everyone,

I am thinking of buying a Kodiak WK180C gen 2 rifle that is on the looming C21 amendment list with the hope that the amendment doesn't pass as was drafted.

Is it foolish to spend the money on this rifle that may not even have a chance to be used before the change is put into effect and is rendered useless? What are the chances that a revised version of the amendment list doesn't contain the WK180C?

This isn't a question you should ask yourself. If you're thinking of buying a firearm and can afford it. Do it.

Why would you buy that knowing it's on the Liberal's hit list? This has nothing to do with living in fear and everything to do with basic common sense economics. The Liberals will never pay what the firearms are worth. If you want to blow a wad of cash,I'll send you my address. Just send me a cheque.;)

Well, you certainly won't buy one AFTER c21 passes, so.....

Point taken. Buy what you can and buy two and have some fun with it. Life is too short to worry about this woke government. I don't care anymore what this divide and conquer government has to say. I agree Mendicino is a pathological liar and he can never answer truthfully any question asked of him as evident in any interview done of him.

I was tempted...there was a Garand sitting on the rack, at SFRC, a couple of days ago. I resisted for reasons unknown to me now. However there were boxes and boxes of ammo being stacked in the center of the store. It was a going concern. Very inspiring to see.

Given the glacial pace of the compensation program the owner of a rifle on the list might have it for a long time. While the government isn't likely to pay what you paid for the gun it's not much different than buying a gun, shooting it for a while and selling for less than you paid for it.

well that has not been fully negotiated or figured out yet. Yes there was some posters around talking about payment, but that has not been fully negotiated. Gun owners need to stand up and demand fair value if there is mandatory buyback. Why would I surrender it without fair compensation? As far as I see it, I have the receipts for my guns and if I do not get what I paid then they do not get the firearm. Also I expect payment up front BEFORE surrender. And they had better come with a valid pal for the firearm collected and be prepared to go through the transfer process. This is still Canada not Russia. Simple as that to me

The ban literally includes all guns or can be interpreted for many other guns to be added at a later date. I'm basically left with nothing, you will be too. The only firearms that will be left (because the liberals won't stop) Will be single shot firearms.

I'm not sure if some gun owners actually realize the gravity of this situation. If C21 passes. Gun ownership is basically gone. Plus the residual effects will be staggering.

A lot of gun owners are buying everything up they can afford. Although I mostly collect, range time has substantially increased for myself.

I was in Tenda and Al Flaherty's last week, their fishing section has increased

I went out and bought an non OIC gun immediately to replace my AR the second day OIC was announced. And I shoot even more than before.

Think about this - enjoy and shoot while you can. If every minute of life is a bonus, the logical option is enjoy it to the fullest! If I know there is uncertainty about shooting guns in future, I am going to buy and shoot as much as possible til the day I am not allowed to.

Most importantly - the best way to explain, an army needs logistics, logistics needs arms manufacturers aka industry base. When the government cuts budget and the arms manufacturers left, the industry base disappears. Even if the government changes it mind, it would take years and years to rebuild the base.

When people stop buying guns, the dealer/manufacturing base is getting eroded. When the base is eroded, it would takes years to attract people to pick up the risk again and get back into the gun business. It took over 15 years for the firearms industry to expand from the Harper era to what it is now.

If everyone goes out and buy at least something, this will keep the industry and the distributor network operational until the next friendly government gets in. This is kinda like the government is buying a certain quantity in peace time to make sure the factory can make enough profit to stay on, until the day war comes it can go back to 24/7 full rate production at max cap.

Bang on. The foundational industry will be crushed short term until the legislation is repealed and the brave industrious folks restart it, however long that takes... Buy whatever you can afford to support the industry in the meantime.

At a very young age my uncle took me out lots, he had a colt AR15 in the 80’s so imagine how rare that was. When I was able I got my license.
In the 90’s I had my FAC and owned quite a few firearms. When they changed the laws I gave up and sold everything.

Anyway, I bought the kids an Xbox for Christmas early 2000’s and had so much fun with the shoot-em-up games!! It really brought back a lot of memories about my childhood. So I got my license again and started buying as my income allowed.
I always wanted an AR, I own three. One NR “AR style” lol and it’s not going anywhere.
I’ve shot three gun, two gun, clays, steel plate matches, and service rifle/pistol.

When they thought up this freeze it immediately brought back memories of how I felt on the 90’s….but fresher in my memories was the time spent at the range with others and family.
So I bought two 5” barrel semi’s and something I’ve always wanted but couldn’t justify…a 1911.
The 1911 is a new Canuck with custom wood “Canadian” hand grips. I absolutely love it. I’ve put probably 300rnds through it in a couple months.

“You’ll always regret the things you didn’t do”
Yup, and yup.

99% of people that chose to get cash will get less than fair market value.
You can debate this with the Gov, you can write your MP, you can take them to court. You can jump up and down in the street.

**YOU WILL NOT BE COMPENCATED FAIRLY**

you have 4 choices
1) Deactivate as outlined in regs
2) Accept pennies on the dollar
3) Don't comply (and accept risks that come with that)
4) Challenge them on their compensation and likely go to jail if you refuse what they offer (pennies on the dollar)

There is no mediation or negotiation. This isn't Pawnstars.

"The best I can do is... send you to jail..."
