Would you consider importing the Norinco JS 9mm SMG (Type 97 style SMG)?

Would you buy one of these if the price was reasonable?

In terms of pure asthetics, the paper towel dispenser doesn't even come close to looking as good as the JS 9mm. :p

That sure is one big trigger guard! IF you could still call it a guard. Kinda defeats the purpose of it. But does look like it is designed by the same people as the others.

Actually the large guard makes sense if you consider that it looks to be designed to fit your supporting hands thumb (and probably part of the wrist as well) and your other hands trigger finder at the same time. With gloves on it might even be a tight space to work in.

That's fine for the front grip but it makes it real easy to bump the trigger. You could bump the trigger with your foot with a boot on! Not good in my book. If you want the extra support/guard for the front grip then at least put a divider in there to protect the trigger. That's MHO. Might even look better!

Flat top rail looks cooler but is not very user friendly and in the end will not be as ergonomic as the carry handle. With the flat top an optic will have to be mounted very high for proper cheek weld. The handguard and charging handle do two things: they allow for true back up irons and true ambi charging handle. All you would need is a picatinny adaptor and a lower mount optic (aimpoint micro, etc...) and the carry handle becomes much more attractive. With the flat top mount shown in the pics there is not much space to mount an optic, meaning you would probably have to ditch the irons for the optic. I'd prefer to have back up sights.

I don't like the optics mounted on the carry handle. My Type 97 non-restricted rifle that's on pre-order will be irons only.

I'll have an Eotech 553 mounted on an AR-15 that I plan on swapping between the 9mm and AR. This should be high enough on the flat top. You can always raise the mount with raisers etc, but it's impossible to lower the carry handle.

I think the bottle neck cartridge is the thing for me. Optics is secondary. But I'd get both until they decides neither could get a permit to go to the range...not that that would ever happen.
