Would you hide a loan from your wife to buy a gun?

I would never lie to my wife. She put up with me for almost 30years, including multiple deployments to god-forsaken third world s--t holes. Just tell her and buy it. You will sleep better and your wife will to. Not thinking there is something "funny" going on. Just my two cents. Respects.

What I do with my money is none of her business... The day she starts making more then me will be the day I change my tune....

Well you guys were right. Scraped about it last night and this is what we came up with.

I can get the gun if she can spend on something expensive. And this is why I love her ! We are now flying down to Miami on friday to go on a 7day cruise.

Booya !

She just asked I wait till after the cruise to buy the gun.

If I hada known buying a expensive gun would come with a 7day cruise off miami I woulda done this a long time ago.

thats sweet. but remember, its your money. as long as the bills are paid, and your family isn't wanting for anything... what business is it if you buy something on credit?

Sweet an trip and a new rifle!! Now thats the way it should be!

To all the guys that would never take out a loan for a gun, if you have investments making a steady 8-10% interest, and a line of credit at 1% over prime, why would you take money out of your savings? I use and abuse my LOC on all kinds of gun stuff..

A great approach. I've been reading all 17 pages of this post and it sure has been warm spirited and lively. Glad all of you can keep things in control. Happy that your wife is getting what she wants out of it and in the end, all of you will be happy.

Here's the Hungry Welfare approach for those of you who have attended my M14 Clinics over the years: QUIT smoking! Put that money towards the 338 LM project!

Better yet, quit drinking (well, red wine is still a weakness of mine) BUT you  know what I'm getting at.

Once you figure out or calculate what you are spending on these vices, you will sober up and realize that the .338LM M700 Police is a great expenditure any way you justify it.

All the best!

i probably wouldn't do the loan but I am not one to judge as I went into a gunstore to get a cleaning kit and when I walked out I had two rifles and no cleaning kit... To make matters worse she was waiting in the truck with the kids so I couldn't even hide them or sneak them home...

Ahaha, I went in to look at a recoil pad once and came out with 800 dollar gun.

Even if I wanted too...I would most likely get caught. Just this afternoon I ordered a new gun on line ( thanks frontier firearms ) ...and due to the fact that it is my wifes name on our credit card I had to send them a note from her stating that it was OK if I got a gun with her ( our ) card. SO in this case thank god I checked it out with her first...or I may have had some series explaining to do.

So now instead of being in the dog house ..I am ready to receive my new gun because I was upfront with my wife.

Been with my wife going on 25 years (OMFG!!)
I don't like liers, Can't imagine her being any different.
We have never had money issues, we have an us account for all the family bills, we each put in equal (or what we could) that deals with all the expenses plus a bit.
The remainder of her cheque is hers, and remainder of mine is mine.
We knew at the beginning either of us could torch both cheques...
And for the record she was the bread winner for the majority of time, although it didn't seem to matter much.
She got her toy's, I got mine and somehow we paid off a house, did some reno's, wanted for nothing and lived life happily.
So the moral;
-Don't lie.
-Look after your family.
-Buy whatever you want and don't hide squat.

Sniff, sniff..........something doesn't smell right. She may be thinking it's time to start a family - the cruise being the perfect opportunity to get pregnant - by all means, choose the family, forget the gun or take both. Or, she'll re-visit the issue when you return because of the cost of the cruise. Or, she'll use the time to convince you otherwise. Either way, I believe you'll be reconsidering your plans to buy the gun. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Anyway, no use rushing out to buy the gun and ruining the cruise - it may give here an excuse to throw you over-board. :p I wish you all the best!

...[]... Its only $1500 but you know how woman are.

From another perspective, its not just $1500. Add also:
$120 per box of 20 x ?; or
$240 for Redding bushing die set
$280 for 100 pc lapua brass
$84 for 100 pcs 250 or 300 gr scenar's x ?
$35 per pound of Retumbo x ?
$37 for 1000 CCI LRM primers.

And if you'll need scope base($100), rings ($200) and scope ($1000 min.) unless you have that kit already. To get into the 338 LM game, I would look closer at $3000+ rather than $1500 even with the cheapest of them; the MLR.

go on tour , get extra money , come home . buy rife , pay lawyer for devorce. get new wife ,try again. or suck it up princess.
Just a little harsh no?lol...:p

Glad it worked out for you, she sounds understanding at least, its give and take brother.
