Hi,
I live in Qc, and here, there is only 1 tag per/hunter so if button would walk in front of me while hunting, I would definately shoot him. We apply for doe tag every year and this year I was lucky enough to win one so during black powder season, a nice doe came my way and I took her

.
Having the opportunity to shoot more in a season, like some friends in Ontario that can get up to 7 tags, maybe, I say maybe I would not shoot "rainbow" but it's not the case here isn't it.
Like some mentionned, the meat of a young deer 2-3yrs old is better tasting and more tender then their 4-5 yrs old conterparts. I have shot some nice big deer over the years and enjoyed every bit of the hunt as much as I did for the doe I took this year

.
If they want a pet, just keep it home, otherwise, it's open season and no one should argue about that and none should be pissed at the hunter who would take him. The deer is legal and taking him also is. What's not legal is what these people did to him. Wild animals are sometimes nice to look at in your backyard but trying to make a pet out of him will only decrease his chance to survive in the wild.
So, for a hunter's point of view, there is no reason not to shoot him, unless your a trophy hunter, in the contrary, shooting him would be the right thing to do.
Just my opinion
