Just got in. Shot around 70 rounds out of the one Norc I took along. The other is still in its preservative bath. The first magazine was all low and to the left by about 4 inches at 8 yards. One of the range guys came up and tried it with the first shot from the second mag and wouldn't you know it. Just a hair above center. Talk about feeling small

From that point on all my own shots were fine too. I guess the barrel or the barrel seating in the slide took a few little shocks to bed in or something. For the next target I did all my shooting at more around 12 to 13 yards and from there it managed mostly 4 inch groups with a couple of 3 inch groups. Not bad for my old guy eyes and nerves. About the same as I get from my CZ Shadow for the most part unless I really buckle down.
Trigger pull is heavy but not stupidly so. But that'll be one of the first things I'll be tackling in the weeks ahead. The trigger pull was a bit gritty at first but soon smoothed up. It was REALLY gritty as it came out of the box but I cleaned the assembly before taking it out tonight and that helped a lot. I think with a bit of work this puppy will really come out quite nicely.
Something has to be done with the safety since it's digging into the web of my shooting hand. Not sure what yet but complete removal is not an option since I'm hoping to use the Norc in some IDPA shooting at some point rather than try to lighten up my CZ.
Hand grip fit for my large hands is a bit sketchy but it's not bad at all. My thumbs want to rest on the slide or slide release so I had to make a bit of effort to get the strong hand thumb up onto the back of the support hand. The support hand thumb rested nicely along the frame touching lightly. It's definetly a compact grip made for generally smaller asian hands. I like the idea of making up some Tokegypt grips. I'd make them slightly extended as well to better support the pinky. Of course this would mean making up some extended magazine bases as well. I'll have to check the IDPA rules on that aspect.
Two minor problems came up. One is that my right hand thumb kept moving the safety to a mid position which neutralized the hammer. The other is the magazine release. The catch is sticking out a bit too much so magazines need to be helped in by slightly pushing the release. And on ejection it takes a really firm push that sinks the release button fully. A bit of stoning on the catch to lower its profile inside the magwell should fix that. And the safety lever being reworked should deal with the other issue.
So far I'm ecstatic with the purchase. It's actually a sweet shooter as it comes and with some fixes it should become even better.
Mine are both of the style that does not have the Norinco emblem stamped in the left hand side of the slide. And on the other side there's just some silvered code numbers. I'm not sure it even says "made in China" on it at all. I'll have to check tomorrow.
I'll start a new thread to display the work I did so far and to cover the other work described above in the next day or two. And yes it will be picture heavy....
