The top one is the newest style. The receivers are now setup for left side charging only and have the squared up handguard. They either come with the buffer tube and knock-off magpul stock or the Spectre "galil" folding stock.
Bottom one looks like WK 180

well after handling the rifle for a week or too...." picking it up..holding it...bringing it up to my shoulder a& aiming".....Man this rifle is Beyond HEAVY
I'm sure it weighs more than my old 308 FN semi auto. Its almost ridiculous. For a 223 rifle ..this is built like a TANK !
This weight is overkill for a 223.
I cant imagine trotting through the bushes with this......Its like carrying a "jack- All"
If this was a 308 or larger,...I could understand.
I'm sure its never gonna break LOL
Its just to much for me." I'm a little guy".
Guess I'm going T97
I'm sure it would be an excellent "bench" shooting rifle,..or if you had a bi pod on and your waiting for Yotes.
but I'm not that guy. I like to walk a lot.....miles through bush ect.
I really dont want to do that with this rifle.
Its heavier than my sks with the Mag rail and scope.
The Mcr is very front heavy...and I understand if you want a NR rifle that 18 inches of steel has to be hanging off the end.
the T97 doesnt have this issue. Do I prefer the t97 over the mcr.?....not really ..but what else am I gonna do.

An SKS weighs 3.85kg, a Type 97 3.7kg, and a FN FNAR 308 4.03kg
The WS-MCR is 3.35KG, 13% less than an SKS, 9.5% less than a type 97 and 17% less than the FN (Numbers rounded for ease of reading)
Last but not least the C7 rifle weighs 3.3kg, so it seems to be spot on in comparative weight between its 508mm barrel relative
A sling may be beneficial to you, or the shorter Type 97 might be good to help compact the weight![]()

Then again, the WK180C is considerably lighter (in the front-end where it matters to me) than the MCR with the pencil barrel a
I'm not sure I would call it a pencil barrel, I tried to research barrel thickness categories for pencil/medium/thick profile barrels but couldn't find anything.
It's also worth noting that new WK-180Cs have a thicker barrel profile than older ones
Would there be a market for a Titanium edition, with Titanium instead of steel side inserts, a short hand lightweight handguard, and a lightweight but accurate high quality fluted barrel?
For me price isnt an issue. I certainly would pay more for a Lighter, more balanced rifle. hands down.
At least I could use it for My purpose.
I think in time you will see a new different version come out, there seems to be a lot of talk on the forum about the barrel allready.
I understand that they were trying to build a better stronger rifle and meet the buyers complaints on the first 180 model, and I think they have done just that.
But....made it a bit heavier than some people would have liked. so, yes,..use different materials. they are a good company and I have no doubt some where down the road they will resolve this.
