Nope. I was there to see Doug.
Maybe as a suggestion, they could have someone behind the counter who just deals with writing up the bills, dealing with the gun transfers, fetching ammo from the shelf for people or retreiving easy things like powder, bullets, primers, etc from the back. Certainly any of the new staff can hand over a box of ammo or use the till to finish the sale which would leave the few knowledgable gun people to deal with customers who actually require that type of help.
" Sorry sir. my job is just to deal with writing up bill and doing transfers"
" I am only allowed to do easy stuff like....."
"Sorry sir, I am one one the knowledgeable types and I only deal with people who really require help"

So true. Don't forget the ones that just scurry away and hide.

Apparently you dont go into WSS to pick up a box of ammo or something quick like a bottle of powder.
I for one would rather have some young kid or person without any gun knowlege just running the till behind the counter.
When you need a box of ammo (like many people I see waiting in hour long line ups), the person at the till behind the gun counter could grab it off the self for you and ring the sale in.
Is there any value added in waiting in an hour long line up to get someone to grab a box of ammo for you? I really dont care who hands me that box of ammo. If they could train a dog to fetch it for me, I'd be fine with that too.
19 times out of 20 when I go to the gun counter at WSS, I need something quick. Something that someone with absolutely no knowledge of guns or firearms could do.
yep, and it's unfortunate that's the way it was for you TJ, i've seen that happen all to often myself, both at mine and at other stores, i always try and keep an ear open for those kind of coversations, both to make sure that the customer gets the right product/info and the staff member learns form the experiance.
Ya, I'm sure you do.....sadly it only takes one of those experiences to make you forget about 50 good ones......this sadly was one of those older gentlemen that I think was done learning! He knew it all! Sure you get many customers with the same affliction....I've seen them in line as well.
oh yes, they're my favourite. you albertans don't have a muzzle loading saeson do you? here in Manitoba it's as big as rifle season, if not more popular.
WSS has tons of goods & sometimes it is hard to keep track of it all including prices. They have an online inventory but it is not to be trusted 100% since it takes afew days to update since the stores sells so much more than the other ones.
As for the black powder comment, I can tell that they do supply but in a limited quantity & most staff would be very limited or basically knowledged on them, probably because of lack of interest & encounters in that specific field. I personally am not into those so I know the basics that is all.
When i went to lethbridge college, WSS was a little screwy too. Couldnt by danner steel toes and was referred to calgary to buy them. How does that happen?
haha, you went to the college there but it didn't help your spelling at all did it? haha
