WWI & WWII Machine Guns Question

I've heard you can get licensed as a museum and acquire FA stuff, under the stipulation that they are displayed periodically to the public. Whether it's true or not...

Someone didn't read the Newbie FAQ Section.
The link is in my sigline below.
Its a long read, but the answer is in there somewhere.

Remember that with FAs and CAs you must now aso be registered with Controlled Goods Canada.

John

Say what? Do you mean all 12(2) and 12(3) owners must individually register with Controlled Goods Canada (whoever the hell that is) or is this something the CFC informs them of?

I've not heard of this before.

I used to own a fully registered L1A1, I can prove I owned it (with government issued paperwork). Now I can't own it. I also used to own half a dozen short barrelled handguns, and 32 calibre handguns, and I can prove it, but I can't own one now (same goes for the AK's and other fun stuff.) I owned these starting at the age of 19, now that I'm middle aged the government says I'm not as safe as I was then, and can't be trusted with them any more. Good Luck with your argument, let me know if you get anywhere with it.

Just curious, since the L1A1 was NEVER issued with a select fire capability, why is it prohibited?
Because it's an EVIL looking A-salt rifle??????
Oh by they way, I got my Australian L1A1 out of Canada.;)

Military type guns that were NOT FA are classed 12(5)

Military guns that were FA and converted to semi only for private ownership are classed as 12(3) converted autos

ergo...it is possible to be licensed to own a FN FAL converted auto but NOT be licensed to own a L1A1....make sense?

STEVO;
Take a few minutes and visit Public Works Canada, look up the Directorate of Controled Goods.... Yes directorate comrade....

If you are not sick after reading that then you must have a very strong stomach....
John

John, our Gummint basically took the California List and said, "Okay, let's ban everything on this list ........ and anything that even LOOKS LIKE one of them"..... and that's just what they did.

Of course, we destroyed the political party which did that, but nobody seems to care.

I always thought that "Responsible Government" meant that the Government was responsible to the People. Seems that they have reversed that a whole big bunch, and now us peasants are responsible to our Masters.

Talking with a lawyer a while back, he tells me that when he went to law school (about 15 years ago) they had ONE 40-minute lecture about the Constitution of this country. This may not seem odd, except that it is the Constitution of this country and the documents associated with and forming a part of it, which guarantee your right to own ANY private property, including firearms. But it is interesting that only 40 minutes out of a 3-year course, were devoted to any discussion about the Constitution at all. Small wonder the Government can pull off anything they want to: nobody knows the law.

See Magna Charta (1215, 1225), Bill of Rights (1688/89), British North America Act (1867 and updates), Canadian Bill of Rights (1960), Assize of Arms (1181) for more detail. For anti-taxers, there is also a discussion on rights in "Call It Extortion!", the book about anti-taxer Gerry Hart and his 46-year battle with Revenue Canada.

one thing to consider---always keep a gun registered in what ever classes you are "enrolled in" because if you don't you are out. many people "lost" their FA status this way.
