Might as well do a 300 win mag then
Recoil is closer between the 308 and 3006 than the 30-06 and 300.
A short action cartridge in a long action is ghey no matter how you try and justify it.

Joking aside...
I called the short action cartridge in a long action ghey - not the guys shooting them. In my opinion thre are just too many other good options with the right length action for the cartridge.
Nope, just cheesy..
Once upon a time it would of bothered me, now I don't care. 223 in a T3 solved that for me
X Bolt for me... all the way... short bolt lift, tang safety, safety locks the bolt, a release to unlock the bolt without disengaging the safety, nice detachable mag that works very well... install dual dovetail scope mounts and it's as solid and trouble free as it gets...
Except I could care less about a shorter bolt lift, and I am not a fan of tang safeties on a rifle. And I despise the triggers on the Browning rifles.
just boxed up an Xbolt Pro ($2500 rifle) for warranty repair, the little button on the bolt handle that allows you to unload chamber on safe broke. Xbolts are pretty Micky mouse, you can't even rebarrel one

Having been exposed to a few T3s now, I would further the recommendation of a .308. 7mmRM, 30-06 both required the addition of limbsavers (obviously a small modification in the grand scheme of things - but something to consider), but the 7mm08 is beautiful to shoot.
