X-bolt vs Tikka T3x

Joking aside...
I called the short action cartridge in a long action ghey - not the guys shooting them. In my opinion there are just too many other good options with the right length action for the cartridge.

well it doesn't hamper on the target, or in the field.

X Bolt for me... all the way... short bolt lift, tang safety, safety locks the bolt, a release to unlock the bolt without disengaging the safety, nice detachable mag that works very well... install dual dovetail scope mounts and it's as solid and trouble free as it gets...

This endorsement is all you need to read.

Except I could care less about a shorter bolt lift, and I am not a fan of tang safeties on a rifle. And I despise the triggers on the Browning rifles.

just boxed up an Xbolt Pro ($2500 rifle) for warranty repair, the little button on the bolt handle that allows you to unload chamber on safe broke. Xbolts are pretty Micky mouse, you can't even rebarrel one

They seem to have many more parts than is required, and some of the materials are sub standard. But the it and finish are quite good.

Having been exposed to a few T3s now, I would further the recommendation of a .308. 7mmRM, 30-06 both required the addition of limbsavers (obviously a small modification in the grand scheme of things - but something to consider), but the 7mm08 is beautiful to shoot.

A limbsaver isnt a bad idea on a 308 either. Especially on those longer range sessions in the warmer weather when only wearing a t-shirt.
