Once upon a time it would of bothered me, now I don't care. 223 in a T3 solved that for me
just boxed up an Xbolt Pro ($2500 rifle) for warranty repair, the little button on the bolt handle that allows you to unload chamber on safe broke. Xbolts are pretty Micky mouse, you can't even rebarrel one
Tikka seems like the better option to me. A note on the recoil with them, apparently the T3X's have a better recoil pad than the T3X's did.
I wouldn't own a T3 300WM without putting it into a stronger stock with an integrated recoil lug or replacing the OEM one. IMO they are too light and the factory stock/recoil lug too weak for the magnums. If you shoot one often, you will notice unacceptable wear & tear on these parts with magnum cartridges. My guess is that most don't see too many rounds because of how awful they are to shoot so not an issue for the majority. Doesn't make it right though,
Patrick
I have my heart set on a Tikka for my first rifle. Great thread thanks guys. Undecided on calibre however. I had an afternoon at the range with a friends 300 wm and didnt find recoil too bad. Grouping was within 2 inches at 200 yards
