X-bolt vs Tikka T3x

ive owned both they are both pretty nice but the browning trigger is designed against shooters and for that reason i dislike the xbolt. the t3 on the other hand is made for shooting

I'll shortly be selling a Tikka Superlite Stainless in a Tikka laminated stock, 300 wm, extra mag, after market recoil pad, metal bolt shroud in excellent condition, if interested. Also, what are these T3x lop spacers being mentioned? Thanks!

Once upon a time it would of bothered me, now I don't care. 223 in a T3 solved that for me

Recently had a CZ557 Sporter in 308 Win on a long action. Honestly besides having a bigger loading port than usual which made life easier, didn't care.

Long action, short action....they work.

The comments about recoil are on point, the Tikka has some whip to it, compared to heavier/bulkier guns.

300 win mag a no no for a beginner. Stick with short action caliber or 30-06, 25-06 non magnum long action calibers. Plenty of horse power for big game smacking

Tikka seems like the better option to me. A note on the recoil with them, apparently the T3X's have a better recoil pad than the T3's did.

Well it could only be an improvement on the T3 hockey puck pad. I finally replaced mine with a Limbsaver this year.

I have owned dozens of Sako's and several Tikka's over the years. Never had one, nor have I know anyone that owned one that wasn't very accurate. They all shoot extremely well, when you fine the right ammo or load combination.
Never owned a Browning rifle, so I can't say anything bad about them. With tikka's and Sako's I've never had any reason to even look at different brands. Just stuck with what I know works.

300 WM is a heavy hitter, there may be other calibers suitable for moose and deer that would be easier on your body to shoot and easier on the wallet.
7mm-08, 308 come to mind. That's just my 2 cents. Knockdown power is undeniable on the 300wm, but you won't get the enjoyment out of your rifle if you want to spend an afternoon at the range with it. Lighter weight hunting rifles are no fun at all shooting at the range in cartridges like 300wm.

Tikka .308 Win. You’ll never want to shoot the magnum because the recoil and cost are too high for beginner shooting. Well, to high for any shooting in my opinion. With a .308 you can plink away with $0.70 rounds instead of wasting $1.50+ on every excruciating magnum shot.

I wouldn't own a T3 300WM without putting it into a stronger stock with an integrated recoil lug or replacing the OEM one. IMO they are too light and the factory stock/recoil lug too weak for the magnums. If you shoot one often, you will notice unacceptable wear & tear on these parts with magnum cartridges. My guess is that most don't see too many rounds because of how awful they are to shoot so not an issue for the majority. Doesn't make it right though,

Both are good accurate guns and there has been a lot of opinions on both of them, fit and feel is so important and in my opinion a Tikka in a caliber larger than a 270WSM is going to have a lot of felt recoil but I prefer the Tikka my self.

The T3x now has a steel recoil lug vs the aluminum one found in the T3

I have my heart set on a Tikka for my first rifle. Great thread thanks guys. Undecided on calibre however. I had an afternoon at the range with a friends 300 wm and didnt find recoil too bad. Grouping was within 2 inches at 200 yards

find a caliber that is easy on the wallet - 223 or 6.5 creed price out the price of factory ammo

What kind of rifle? How heavy was it? A Tikka in 300WM will likely amplify the recoil you felt because they are light weight.
