Break in issues
I ordered a new 223. Revision J (keymod) and was breaking it in today and noticed a few issues.
Here's the scenario.
Using 55. Grain winchester match ammo
Well lubed with mobi 1 0-40 synthetic
Pre cleaned the gun

And the issues
Gas setting 4 throwing brass only 10 to 15 feet a few only 5 feet
Had two double feeds where a empty and a fresh round bound this out of 60 rounds
When I slowly let the bolt down on a empty chamber it will stick about a 1/4" before closed
The bolt FACE was covered in brass.

I stopped for the day to check it over and polished the carrier as the one post in cleaning described as my carrier was heavily marred with brass on the bottom from the mag.
Maybe this is all fairly normal and will clear up I'm new so I'm unsure
Thanks for any info!!

Gas setting 4 throwing brass only 10 to 15 feet a few only 5 feet -as long as it is ejecting there is nothing to worry about, it will become more consistent after break in period of a couple of hundred rounds.
Had two double feeds where a empty and a fresh round bound this out of 60 rounds - during breaking period the odd double fee is not unheard of
When I slowly let the bolt down on a empty chamber it will stick about a 1/4" before closed - don't ride the charging handle, let the spring slam the bolt forward
The bolt FACE was covered in brass. -brass is a soft metal it is nothing to worry about when you see it marring up the bolt or carrier, you can just rub it off with you finger

Interesting, the new key mod is also a Revision J as my latest XCR-L with full rails and heavy barrel. I would have though it would be a new Revision. I would be interested in a side by side comparison between the light barrel and standard barrel if anyone local wants to meet up.

H bean^ thanks for the info I'll send some more
Through her today!

It says that it's revision j on the manual but I'm pretty sure it's the older style as a few pics of it have quad rails and a buffer mounted on the lower. So the manual is prob wrong with that too

Why does this rifle have a break in period where malfunctions are considered normal?

For the same reason the original Armalite Ar-10, Ar-15 and some high end Colt 45 ACP have a break in period: tight manufacturing tolerances!
In a perfect world, Robinson Arms would work out a procedure to avoid this but it's simply too expensive at this point.
By the way, one of the best, most reliabble pistol the Sig Blackwater 45 ACP also requires a 500 round break in period...

I understand the break in period part, but not why there are malfunctions during it. Something I have not experienced with any other new rifle I have owned from cheap junk to top of the line.

Does it really matter that you dont have an XCR?
Considering the new keymod in 7.62x39 as the other currently available options are far worse in that caliber. But now seeing there are issues even with the new keymod model similar to those I experienced with the older xcr I may be better of waiting for the CZ 805 or a caliber conversion for the ACR

Yep. You should definitely purchase one of the those other options. Then you can be 100 percent guaranteed to have a reliable firearm other than the one who's threads you troll.

Your first sentence does not make any sense.
And you sure know what you are talking about with your one time experience with the xcr.

And maybe in 2020 you will see a conversion kit for Acr?
Or you can spend money to get a gunsmith to make you one.

what doesn't make sense?

How many xcr's have you owned to call my months of shooting with the same xcr a "one time experience"? Is it because it was sold off because of the problems you discount my experiences.......
