Xcr break in issues

What kind of fit should the piston have inside the gas tube? I'm
Assuming fairly snug but with little force required to move. Looking at mine when the piston is
In the gas tube. It's disassembled. I have a whole mess of wiggle room. Damn near a 16th of a inch. noticeable
To say the least. Is this right???

Yes of course there is supposed to be lots of wiggle room here - these aren't parts that need to feed together smoothly like a bolt and chamber do etc. The wiggle room lets the piston and tube get dirty as hell from the gases without compromising performance...it is what makes the AK much more immune to dirt and gas residue and keeps the gas residue out of the chamber and bolt area, etc.

Hey OP finally got mine and just put 160 rounds through it. I had no dented casings on feed, however all my spent cases were dented slightly. I have brass all over my bolt as well including a couple brass flakes, is this okay? The bottom of the bolt was the most covered in brass. After 100 rounds I switched it over to setting three. The first round stovepipes, kept shooting and it ate the rest of the 60 rounds on setting three flawless. Ejecting 6-10 ft. Also did you get a front sight tool mctrigger?

I see. Like I said I have no experience with this platform. It seemed odd. The only comparisons I had was the gas system on a cz 858. It had a much tighter fit. The xcr seemed like it would have lots of blow by and with the op rod loose in the tube it would slap side to side. Thought it may have somthibg to do with the ejection problem. I'm glad to hear it normal tho!!

Post some pictures guys! I own one of the latest xcr's before these key mods came out an i love it, so naturally I'm very interested in this lighter version.

And yes I know I can look up pics on google but I like seeing other gun nuts guns!

Here's the feed ramp that is causing the bent case I think

Sorry for the poor picture quality

Thanks for the info too guys. I'm
A bit OCD when it comes to this stuff I need to calm down and not worry about it I guess

Well I think It's about fixed. Seems like more rounds through it is all that was really needed. The op rod was never a issue they are all like that. And as for the stove pipes I had mod the brass deflector and shortened it up. Which helped but as time went on it solved its self. Seems to run great now. Accuracy is also imperesive as hell. Thanks for the info folks

The dents are not from feeding, they are from whacking the deflector upon ejection. No ifs ands or buts. Firing would blow a mangled case back to the shape of the chamber.
