sure, please ask him pricing for a complete kit ready to install. light profile non restricted barrel of good quality is a must. I never got a reply that the 450 was ready for sale.Brian,
Last time I taked to him 1911A1 was still using his 450 regularly and it's working well. If you want I'll ask him if he'll build one for you but including a new bolt and the machining it's gonna cost a minimum of $600. Still not bad considering an XCR conversion is $700.
.
I also have a 6.8 conversion. I should have my new bolt in the next week then I'll be out testing it.
The 6.8 will probably be going up for sale though once I turn the test loads into once fired Hornady brass.
I don't need three calibers for this rifle and I've already got an AR in 300BLK so I'm more inclined to stick with it.

I'll buy the conversion kit before I buy a rifle if that is what comes first. So tell him to give me a price both ways but I am leaning towards complete with gas system so he can test it and confirm it all works prior to shipping it out.Does that mean you finally bought an ACR?
Details? Pictures in the ACR info thread?
I don't think he has any kits ready for sale but I'm sure he could copy what he's done on his. Do you want him to source gas system components or will you use what your rifle came with? If your rifle is restricted there is no reason to keep the gas system on the factory barrel since it's illegal to put the 16 inch back on once you make it non restricted (even at the range). It will get expensive if you want all new gas system parts.

I haven't owned an ACR but I have owned 2 XCR's still own one, the biggest difference I see in Canada is availability, when I wanted to buy my second XCR I picked a vendor and bought it! try to do that with a non restricted ACR there like unicorns
are there any retailers that will convert and reclassify an acr with a herron arms barrel for someone without a rpal who cant buy the restricted version and have it done.
I don't see the appeal of 300 blk either. I'd be more interested in a 7.62x39 conversion than 300blk

So are you saying your buddy could source and do a 7.62x39 NR barrel, using the gas system and other parts off my restricted barrel, and provide and machine a 7.62x39 bolt, for $600ish? If so, I'd be in, too! Particularly if he doesn't have to modify the gas system parts in any way - I'd want the option of returning those parts to my 5.56 barrel if the laws change in the future.
I'd love an NR light-profile 7.62x39 barrel, and probably then get a NR 5.56 barrel down the road.
Sounds good let me know the details on the 450 as I am still interested in a working NR conversionIf he has a 7.62x39 reamer to cut the chamber I guess it's possible.
As for the 450 bushmaster conversion and in a way for all conversions.
The cost of a complete gas system is $550 from Gravel and can take up to a year for the parts to arrive as everything is back-ordered.
Depending on the quality of the barrel sourced you are looking at $300-$500 just for the blank and then another $150-$200 for the machining.
The .223 bolt and extractor is about $120 plus the machining to open up the bolt face to accept the new cartridge.
It's not cheap if you want to go with a cartridge that needs a new bolt. That's why I suggest that if you want 7.62x39 you get with the times and convert to 300 Blackout. It's a superior cartridge and requires no modifications other than a new barrel and shorter gas system. If you only want to shoot supersonic it can probably be made to cycle with an unmodified mid length gas system. It's currently only a viable option if you are a handloader or if you have lots of cash. The cheapest I've seen ammo for is $16/box but it's not easy to find it for that price. Reloading is awesome though as you can load from 110gr-220gr and everything in between depending what you want to do.
7.62x39 is for red rifles. They were built for it and their magazines feed it better. Doesn't make sense to me to buy a $3000 modern rifle then convert it to shoot a cheap dirty surplus round from the 40's.
If I was on a budget I would just do a NR 223 conversion. If you want a x39 an 858 is a better option. I don't remember which ones of those weren't affected by the latest RCMP crap but I know a couple models are still available to us.

I wont shoot the rifle in restricted 223, I might if it was NR but prices are too high IMO for current conversions and hearing of the problems herron has had to fix with other brand converts, so buying the rifle ahead of time is pointless to me if you are saying a conversion is a year or more away. Unless this guy is a store/business and provides a receipt for my payment for something that has potential to take a year or more for him to deliver I also have to wonder if I will ever get what I am paying for (a working 450 acr conversion) a year or more down the road.I just gave you the details, all the prices are there.
If you want a 450 conversion then you can either order the gas parts yourself including the new bolt and then when it arrives I'll help you get them to the machinist and have him build the barrel and modify the bolt or you can pay up front and be patient while he orders all the parts and waits for them to show so he can build your conversion. Getting a 45 blank for the build isn't too hard so if you commit to the build then he'll order the barrel.
No one wants to pay out of pocket for something you may change your mind on later. You've been talking about it for months and haven't even bought a rifle yet. Once you make up your mind and commit to a platform let me know and I'll try to help.

Sorry for thinking out loud but that is how I see it
I'm thinking its time to get a rebarreled acr from Herron arms. Can anyone recommend twist and what profile I should get? Should I get a wylde chamber? I plan on shooting lots if cheap surplus ammo through it for fun but also want to use it with some heavy bullets for coyote hunting.
I would go with a 1:8 twist and a Wylde chamber. My favorite combination for a 223 rifle![]()
