Another stupid accident. What was he thinking climbing a stand with a loaded firearm!! Not just the magazine, but one in the chamber!!
I wonder if we will find out if the safety was off, or the firearm failed?
I sometimes hate showing my location as Ontario, all the crap that happens way down south embarrasses me.I wish more people realized that those of us north of the 49th are not remotely like those south. Generally and politically speaking that is
The people in the North know that they are different than those in the South, and congratulations to you for it!
The people in the South don't even know that there are people in the North...or, for that matter, that there even is anything north of Huntsville.
Wow, you guys are sure full of yourselves! Good for you for thinking you are better then us 'southerns'. I'm sure no one in the North ever did something stupid or had an accident.

...Both probably experienced hunters. Was it a life time of bad habits catching up with them or complacency? Work place studies show the accident/incident rate goes up after 20 years on the job...If you make it a habit to always do something the proper way it will carry you a long way. Making a decision whether or not to cut a corner is not even close to the right mindset even if during that particular instance you do it the proper way. Safety is a habit. It is a much over used phrase in the workplace but it works.
I rarely wear a safety harness in my treestands (my bad!)... and I occasionally fall asleep... one of these days they are going to scrape my frozen carcass off the ground under my stand... and I will have the dumbazz obituary.

And I wish more people realized that it's a douche-move to just generalize about people from anywhere in this great country of ours.
Swing and a miss.
He's from Timmins.
You mean the guy involved in this accident who is from New Tecumseth, which is west of Newmarket or about a half hour drive from Toronto?
Where on earth did you get Timmins from when the article doesn't make one mention of it? Peterborough, Havelock, New Tecumseth and Hamilton are the only places mentioned and they're all well below the north-south line. Timmins is likely an 8 hour drive from the country where this guy was hunting...
