I like SKS's in laminate wood. I'd rather people put this much energy into trying to get AK's non-rest'd rather than adapting the SKS to be what it wasn't meant to be.

I see what they're doing, trying to make a poor man's XCR type rifle (pictured below) for 1/3rd of the price. Unfortunately, it still has that SKS receiver and barrel - which many state isn't that accurate. $850 seems like strong money for this...

Wasn't Kodiak the manufacturer that added detachable mag capacity to an SKS and raised the price $300 or so? Unsure how many of these will sell, but I'm assuming they're cheap to make as there are so many mediocre SKS's around to re-blue and cut up.

An SKS is a fine rifle for what it is at $200.
Putting lipstick on a pig may make it an arguably pretty pig but, in the end, it's still a pig.
For $850, i'll rather have a VZ with scratches.

The main issue is cheap old surplus ammo that people fire, and Western shooting habits while shooting a com-bloc gun.

People want the latest and greatest. Look at the fervor when the T81 was announced and the X95 and APC 223. The proof of success or failure is how many end up on the EE within a year.
You would never buy an ATI or Tapco'ed SKS for $850, even if it had the D mags and a RDS. This gun just has a different suit on but it's still a dressed up SKS.

it's night and day, not to mention the chrome lined barrels on the CSA ones. Infinitely nicer and spare parts kits are available too...so it's less disposable and more a long-term investment.
