You buying the new SKS-15?

gonna be interesting to see which dealers will carry these junk. moreover, to see what kind of ninja worriers use this junk at the range. lol

I don't see why they designed this, it answers a question that nobody has asked. You can get Tapco stocks that add an M4 style buffer tube and grip, you can also get xcr mag adapters as stand alone units. When you price it out, it comes to around $400 in parts, which comes to $600 when you include the $200 SKS. Considering that those modifications don't alter the take down of the rifle, it's hard to see why I'd spend upwards of $800 on a system that looks to make it almost impossible to clean.

And they probably could have taken more time around the aesthetic drawing board.

If you like as issued SKS rifles only, this isn't for you. If you like the tacticool, this could be good.

Price is right- mag adapter SKS run about $650. Throw in a cool stock, scope rail and flash hider and you are at $900 easy.

Only real question is cleaning. Not a big deal if you use non corrosive and only have to disassemble occasionally, but using corrosive might be a pain

Proof will be in the pudding. If it feeds and functions reliably, and gets SKS accurate groups it should be alright. Looks like it probably used some holes in the receiver to mount into the chassis using cross pins or something. If it takes down easy, and returns close to zero after cleaning and re install, it actually looks pretty good. Back in the good ol' days CZ 858s sold for 800~ without 10 round mag capability or optic mounting. If you wanted those functions you were using stuff that bumped the price up more. Between that proposed 958 for $1000 and this, I'd go 958 all day long... Between this and CZ 858 for 1300... I might choose this. Could be a decent beater/camp gun. I think we just need to accept that stuff is getting more expensive... for $500 everyone would jump on these. The extra 350 is just a sign of the times... Plus at 1/2 LB LIGHTER than a SKS its getting points - usually these chassis systems seem to add tons of LBS.

Does the $850 {w/scratches} shoot better then the $200?

Not sure what your point is? but a $200 sks platform is the wrong rifle to invest into. I love the sks rifle for what it is, but putting lipstick on a pig does not make it sharpshooter in terms of guns and accuracy. All the shown modifications are purely esthetic and for your hard earned cash you will get a sks rifle with expensive lipstick and accessories.

If you want something more accurate but still in 762x39 get a CZ. If you want a sporting platform with the ability to upgrade performance go to AR.

No from me but it's a matter of personal preference, I like stock SKSs.
I suspect the typical CGNrs will not like it, but the general gun public might.
Most CGNrs who take time to post are either SKS purists or already into other mainstream black rifles.
But the average gun owner might find the price pointing appealing to own a tacticool rifle without having to tinker.

If it's firearm related I'm interested. ultimately price, reliability and accuracy will be the determining factors, if I'm more than interested enough to buy.

You can gold plate a turd, and there will always be someone who calls it a crown jewel. Your post is proof of this.

So is an SKS Purist the same as someone who believes a new paint job on a Volkswagen will not make it faster or run better?

We'll be carrying it as will many other dealers. It's well made and fills a non restricted semi auto price point now that VZ58 costs have gone up. I've already had 11 people pm me asking to order one so I don't think sales will be an issue.

Is it for everyone, no it isn't but it fills a void in the market for people that want a quality pimped out sks.

Excellent analogy, exactly my point, there is a viable industry in selling automotive trinkets and "useless car/truck mods" to a public that wants it. None of those bolt-ons really enhanced the true performance of the vehicle much, if any. Yet there is a market for it.
Those useless vehicle mods make automotive purist like Jeremy Clarkson puke, pretty much the same reaction as yours.

If you read my initial statement you will see that I prefer stock SKSs, but I try to avoid running for my blood pressure meds when I understand there is a market of what you see as "uneducated folks" wanting trinkets.
