You get three guns...

First two are easy: My hierloom from Dad, a 1956 made Winchester 30-30 carbine. (North America home of the WT deer)
M37 Ithaca in 12 gauge. (Brennekes to birdshot, & anything else in between)

I'm conflicted on number three: Ruger 10-22, or the Hornet, or the 222.
Leaning towards the 22 Hornet, but thankfully this is not our reality.

To fill the need for plinking & playing, Ruger 10/22.

For birds and a long time friend, my little J.S. Boreham English 12ga SxS.

And for big game, the model 4000 Husqvarna light weight in 30-06 I inherited from dear old Dad. His pride & joy.

Not fair restricting me to a 3 gun battery for both NA and African game but since this isn't the shotguns forum and you already said this isn't including restricted either I'll assume you only mean 3 sporting rifles and shotguns, restricteds and rimfires don't apply.

.270 wcf or 7mm-08rem in a winchester model 70 probably stainless
.30-06 in my remington 700BDL
.350rem mag in a remington model 7 stainless and laminate.

I believe most African safari outfits will supply allow you to rent a big bore and thats what I'd use for anything big and nasty over there. I'll dearly miss my .223 Remington and my lever actions but I think I could accept this as my 3 rifles if I had to.

My battery then for your rules would be:
.30-06 700BDL
.375H&H Winchester 70
12 gauge probably Browning silver or Winchester SX3 or maybe Winchester 101 so as to not upset African gov't that outlaw semi automatics.

Includes your shotgun, complete hunting battery. :) I hunt Africa quite a bit and only use two guns there, my Ruger .375 H&H and Gold Label SxS, definitely easily doable. Pretty much all I use here too come to think of it, ain't a thing a guy can't hunt with a .375 H&H and a 12 gauge. :)

One would have to be a .22lr. I'd go with my older Brno bolt .22, sentimental favourite that drives tacks...nice combinaion of qualities.

One centerfire, must be versatile enough and legal for everything everywhere. I'll take my Blaser .375H&H. I know what you said, but this isn't cheating if I don't keep other barrels for it. It's just so much easier and more pleasant to travel with a take-down. This gun is crazy accurate, has a perfect trigger and scope mounting system, and I have a history with it I just can't duplicate with anything else.

Finally, one shotgun. I don't own a drilling, but a double-12gauge over something like 7x65R would probably get the nod. If not allowed by your rules, which are worse than those of some oppressive countries :), I'll just hang onto an old 870.

Drillings are AOK. ;)

That is true. Have you ever tried loading mild charges of RL7, red Dot or something similar and .375" round balls?

No, but on a much more potent level loaded plent of the 2,000fps or so SR4756 loads with 270grs. Also tried trail boss and 300gr I think those are low 1,000's, accurate.

A bit much for grouse, rabbits and the like, me thinks! Speer has some good SR4756 loads and the Bullet Barn is making cast 265gr bullets, which would work well for "plinking".

I'll likely never see Africa, so for a rifle, I'd keep my Tikka T3 in 6.5x55. My shotgun would be my Beretta 12ga. 391 Urika 2. Lastly, for pleasure and economy and practice, my Mauser Es340b in .22 LR.

Was curious who was going to know this angle. :) For the purposes of this thread however- cheating!

Cheating eh? :)
Well OK, for the purpose of your proposed law, I'd still keep my Blaser with the 338 WinMag bbl., trusty Beretta A301 and the Winchester 9422 Mag lever.
Once legal loopholes like adding barrels which don't have a registration number are discovered, I can add to my centerfire collection. Heck, they even make a 22 lr conversion kit for the R93. :D
