Any update on the status or cost?

One other thing I really should say about these is about licensing and timeframes. I haven't said too much about this, but it's important in a 'managing expectations' sense and is the overriding consideration for the next step in getting these rifles to people in Canada.

As it stands, it seems very likely that we will need to license each rifle individually, so $250USD/head. These licenses are good for 12 months (actually, about 11 months with human factors and mailing times). It seems that less than 50 of these have left Kel-Tec, and there is no real date for full production deliveries starting (just received correspondance confirming this this morning).

So, with AR15 manufacturers quoting 9 month lead times, and Kel-Tec generally running even before the Obamapanic at 6 months lead times for current models that have been in production for years, and a massive massive backorder stemming from two years of showing prototypes of this rifle, if we go ahead and get licenses for individual end users today, it is very likely that these licenses could expire before we get delivery of the rifles.

I've already had this happen this year with a number of other hard-to find firearms, for us it gets expensive if we wind up paying $500 for a license that we can only get one or two models of, but if end-users are paying for that license (which we've never done before), I'm not prepared to have people say that they were "ripped off" for $250US by AEI if we get into this situation of expired licenses, or demanding their $250 back, or angry because they paid $250 and are waiting 10 months, and/or generally slagging our reputation about things out of our control, like Kel-Tecs production schedule, (or demanding daily updates for the next 11 months because we've taken the license fee and they don't have a gun yet, that'd be brutal). (Oh, it'll happen!). ;)

So, I guess my advice is to 'hang 'er down'. We're on top of this, and when Kel-Tec is ready to start shipping, we'll be ready with the licenses (as permitted by the US DOS), I've got a lot of time and money already into this, a lot of the groundwork has been done, and I plan on seeing it to fruition. There is more going on behind the scenes regarding licenseing for these than what needs to be posted here.

Again, just trying to keep expectations realistic.

I do appreciate the interest and continue to poke away emails with KELTEC RFB in the header into a 'to contact' email box. When the time comes to update people, you can bet I (we) will.

All the best,
DT

If you don't get it. He is saying that if we are lucky we might get a cool X-mas present......or if not, we can use next years tax return to pay for it.

Here's some more photos from a guy over at the KTOG forums. I can't believe how badly I want one of these things.

I am more than vaguely interested, however, I'll wait to see when they come in the country.

I have handled the Kel-Tec SU-16, and was less than thrilled with it.

This would have to be a significant leap forward for me to really want it.

Although, it would give me a use for the FN mags I've got sitting around doing nothing since I can't shoot my 1A1, L1A1 (Brit), L1A1 (Aus), or C1A1.

I apologize if it's been asked already, or if the info is already here as I've missed it, does it take inch pattern, or metric pattern magazines?

Metric Mags my friend.

That is why Armseast is having Keltec making a 18.5-19 incher specifically for us here in Canada. :)

Throttle Monkey quoting Walt :
"He basically said I had to pay 250$ US for and end user agreement application. I still might do it, the only thing is he doesn't know what rfb he will get. An 18" is restricted. A 24" is not."
