No.4Mk4 for $799.00 plus, plus. So about what we figured it'd be.

B1 Sport model is $899.00

There's a glitch on the page, so I can't get the B2 pricing.

One thing I will say though, (sorry Marstar!), but the B1 pricing is out to lunch in my opinion. They want $100 MORE for what amounts to a sporterized version of the No.4MkIV that isn't going to qualify for service rifle and anyone I know who wants to hunt deer with a Lee Enfield is looking for a $75 beater, not a $900 silk purse.

If the B2 is priced similarly, I can see that, as it's an L42A1 clone, but the B1 looks like any chopped Enfield, except in .308???

I'm also disappointed the scope mount is NOT included in the purchase price. Marstar has decided to sell it separately as part of an "accessory pack" for another $175.00, though for a "limited time", they;re throwing it in free with the rifle.

My understanding from chums in Aussie Land is that the stuff in the "accessory pack" is generally included for free in rifles sold there as a matter of course.

Nevertheless, cudos to Marstar for bringing in another new product. I reserve judgement till I see one first hand, but new shooting products on the market HAS to be a good thing ;)

I've seen the Aussie list prices and they're a bit higher despite being domestic sales, possibly the difference is reflecting the 'free' stuff that's 'included' in that price. I agree with the rest of your post - waiting out to hear how they shoot.

The Rifle with accessory pack at Lawarnce Ord. in Australia is 1050$ Australian. Making it about 900$ Canadian.

So for about 75$ more you get it in Canada vs Australia WITH the accessories.. Not too bad I think considering the distance they need to import them and the paper work etc. :)

Still its abit of money for the gun and I dont see a stripper clip slot on the top. :(

:rolleyes: They should be free with the rifle anyway.

If I want one bad enogh I'll order it through my relatives in Australia...they are in the same area.
 
Question for the Milsurp regulars:

As this is not even a straight copy of the LE, do you feel it belongs in Milsurp? I'm leaning toward moving discussion of these rifles to Hunting/Sporting. If enough folks think it belongs in Milsurp, I'll go with the consensus.

I see the novelty in a brand new, made to exact same spec ie. parts 100% interchangeable with the original models of LE, I could even justify the price these things are.....but, they are not, and they kind of look ###.....:)
I bet they will sell though. Lots of ####s would spend $800 for a 7.62 commercial No.4 so they can shoot slightly cheaper factory/surplus ammo rather then a .303 surplus No.4 and a reloading kit.......:)
 
I'd wait for a review before making any opinions. Whether its my review, Steves or another CGN'er to base an opinion on.

What I know is that these are not the same as your war time model No4. We'll see if it passes the Riflechair torture test. To answer your question Claven I informed the powers that be that the assessment would be completely transparent. There is no favoritism here. If the rifle is a good rifle then you'll know about it. If not then it won't be.

However if the Australians can do anything its make a dam fine lee enfield. If anyone here has ever owned a Lithgow you know they were pretty much the Long Branch of the SMLE variants. So keep your lid on until you get to read a review (Stephen Redgewell's will probably be out before mine because I'm moving house shortly).

In the mean time I understand a few chaps are concerned with the price. You all know full well what one of those unissued Irish Contract rifles cost right? How is this any different? Regardless of that lets give this new platform a chance to really look at it. I for one am extremely pleased to see a newly constructed variant of the No4Mk1 rifle come out on the market. This is a good thing for riflemen from BC to Labrador.

Please take a moment to visit our site for pricing and information.... You will note on the Marstar site that our price is $799. not "plus, plus" as you say, but rather it includes a whole list of accessories, the list is there.... In red yet
We do not sell the accessory pack, rather we offer a list of available accessories which can be purchased seperately.... But I say again the scope is included in the entire list of extras for FREE, did we do wrong by offering this.??

AFTER you have read through all the details you will note that the other models ARE NOT simply "sporterized" or "cloned" versions of the No-4-Mk-4

If I buy one and load my own, does that make me half a ####?:rolleyes:

I'm tempted. Yes, I know for $800 you can go out and buy a used LE and some gunsmithing, or a new Stevens and a better stock, etc.

I like decent iron sights that can be regulated without a file and prayer. I like decent wood stocks.

Would I be happier if the gun kept the origional charger guide? Yes.
Would I be happer if the list price was less? Of course.
Would I prefer the 7.62x39 model? Hmm, still thinking on that one.

Might have to keep looking at the Gun Fund looney jar for a while on this one.

I must apologize for there NOT being a stripper clip guide, we simply could not figure out how to make one function with the scope base in place....

To me they (All but the M10 No. 4 Mk4) are as much as a sporter rifle as any sporter rifle based on the Mauser 98 action.

First you take away the Stripper clip guide, and remove the bayonet lugs then you add scope mounting ability, add Monte Carlo "sporter" rifle stocks, Change the type of barrel it uses (in reference to the "Savage style" barrel replacement) and what do you have ... A Sporter Rifle. ;)

The M10 No4 Mk4 is a reproduction not completly faithful I guess but it atleast looks like a Lee-Enfield. :)

Now that I got my thoughts out, I've got to admit when I got alittle spare money after college I'm probably going to order the M10 No.4 Mk.4 :D
