Your loudest handgun

not really a loud revolver by any standards, but it was for us.

Imagine this:
-Dad and Son have never shot a revolver before.
- Package arrives with a S&W Model 10, .38spl with 4" barrel (packed with several boxes of +P rounds - the good old days...lol).
- It's raining outside.
- Dad and Son decide to "try this baby out" at the local outdoor range that does have an old 6' x 8' shed with a "window" cut out of it to shoot from.
- the rain was really, really coming down, sideways. So Son stands back from the window and pulls the trigger (of course, back in 1984 neither of us wore earmuffs).
- and DANG if that wasn't the loudest gun I'd ever shot, muzzle blast was inside the enclosure - scared the pants off us -but my Dad and I were grinning from ear to ear!!!
- needless to say, the rest of the box of ammo was shot OUTSIDE

Tanfoglio Limited Custom GK

.357 Sig, 9 port compensator, and 11.3gr of H110 (Makes a .38 Super and compensator sound like a mousefart)

It's enough to make people beside you sh_t their pants
The 9X25's used to run something like 17 or 18 gr of H110 or similar...quickly died out when they realized thats an awful lot of punishment for no benefit.

My Millenium Custom open 38 super when I used to use Hodgdon Longshot. That powder was loud for some reason - rivaled some of the 357 sig guys.

Another fellow at my club was shooting hot handloads out a Ruger GP100 two bays over. It was loud enough everyone in bay three went over to see what was going on in bay one.
Of course, he let each of us shoot a few rounds. Awesome but loud.

One of the guys I shot with on a Super Squad at the 1998 North American Championship was shooting a 9X25 with 108gr bullets, it was setting off car alarms in the parking lot at PASA.

I shoot at a local indoor range most times. Every now and then someone rents the .500 S&W. I find it so obnoxious and distracting I usually just take a break until they are done. I'd hate to put a round in the ceiling:p. Loudest thing I have been around as far as pistols by far.

Loud: 38 super with a compensator
Louder: .357 SIG
Loudest: 4" .44 with a full load of 296.....filling rattler.

Stupid loud: I've shot a 500 too - a true beast and with that comp it has, likely the loudest but geez I couldnt' tell since I was trying VERY hard not to drop it!
