** Your NEA102 build **

Gen1 Top
Gen2 bottom (bolt head has dual extractors and is similar in diameter to the AR15.)

Now I'm confused as I tried a gen 2 BCG in mine and it worked.. guess it depends on the brand?

DPMS released their GII series, which gives their LR308 line the form factor of an AR15. It's not compatible with any other system. It's also more Remington than DPMS which is a good thing. I checked to see if the Bolt would fit in a gen1 DPMS carrier and it won't. Currently the only company that makes GII is DPMS which is part of the Freedom group (Remington et al).

The GII requires a specific barrel/extension and isn't compatible with ARmalite or the gen1 DPMS.

Ordered some new stuff from Brownells for the NEA 102 I dont have...lol.. they have a 30$ off and free shipping on 300$ orders right now.

So I got the Brownells 308 bolt ( looks exactly like the Aero precision one but for less money )

Now all I have left to do is wait for the next batch to see what barrels fit.

I got the aero precision one
waiting for my rifle too before I commit on a barrel

The new bolt worked flawlessly today.

If I would make one recommendation to BCL is to offer an adjustable gas block with the rifle.

The reported issues appear to be symptoms of over gassing.

Had the gas block setting dialed in with 2 shots to ensure bolt hold open. After that, everything was perfect.

JP LMOS (DMPS Style) 308 Bolt.

Will not lock on the NoGo Gauge. Will lock up on Go Gauge.

Always consult your Gunsmith before making any of these changes. Now just waiting on my new barrel :)

If you switch to a low mass BCG wouldn't you expect it to act overgassed?
Not saying the 102 wouldn't benefit from an adjustable gas block but you've created an unbalanced system by changing the weight of the BCG and leaving all other things alone.

Why would you switch to a Low Mass BCG rather than a standard weight one just from a better manufacturer than BCL/NEA?

It was over gassed with the OEM gas block and BCG.

The new BCG was not a “must have” however I feel the adjustable gas block is necessary.

The LMOS BCG makes a noticeable difference in felt recoil.

Which adjustable gas block did you go with?

Either necessary or they just drill the gas port the correct size. Maybe they drilled it a little big to compensate for the gas rings wearing out faster than they should :p

Has anyone with a 102 with bad gas rings looked inside the carrier to see how well it was finished? It should be polished smooth, is there machining marks in there that could be wearing the gas rings at an accelerated rate. Just wondering if it's a machining/finishing thing or poor choice of materials for the rings. They should last for a couple thousand rounds not a couple hundred.

I wish they sold the upper and lower only. The rest of the parts look like trash so far.
