DECKARD;
Well now what do you base this opinon on ??

I assume you have experience in the former Yugoslavia ?
You have lived there ?? Traveled there ?? Done business there ??

Lets see, I have travelled to all republics in the former Yugoslavia more than 100 times.... Before the war, during the war, after the war....

I have worked there extensively, operated several faciities there, have a top secret clearance with their military, etc, etc....

Funny I never experienced one single "commie greaseball" as you put it, in the years spent there....

Only my 2cts
John

Buddy there were communists in half of Europe at one time or another...

But let's not get too far off topic. All I meant to say was that Zastava produces much higher quality products than what comes out of China... so it's not really right to compare their stuff to Norinco.

Thank you for sharing this picture. I would love to hear more about these Chinese Norinco SIG copies (I'll start another thread shortly).
I wouldn't mind buying a $349 Norinco. For now, thank God, I don't have to make that choice - I can and will buy both :)
But if I had to choose (God forbid), I'd go with a $289-$399 (depending where I bought it) Zastava:

No offense, but do you really care about the politics behind an industry? If one concerned himself with the politics and the lines of profit behind a firearm, not one a single firearm would ever be purchased.

Again, no offense but a response of that kind is more appropriate for a PETA web site. I've got to slap you for your response :slap:

If anyone else is that picky about gun purchase I can tell you that no seals had been clubbed to death, no endangered pelicans had been killed, no dolphins had accidentally been accidentally fished out along with pollock, and no WalMart employees had been prevented from forming a union in making of either Zastava or Norinco firearms :)

I'm glad that you've had good experiences and that you're outspoken about it. I absolutely respect that
Sadly, prices had skyrocketed over there (everything from food, to real estate) and I'm not surprised that Zastava products had gone up significantly as well. Anyway, I'm glad you've had an overall positive experience.

I know it's not going to look pretty to other people reading this, but now I have no other recourse but to start begging you for those pictures of the Marstar's CZ 99 pistols. PLEASE!!!! :runaway:

Thanks :)

Deckard is right,,,Yugoslavia was run by communist for more than 50 years, by that commie pig Tito and company!
As far as Zastava great arms company, I have a Remington 798 in 30-06 great shooter 1" groups or less, great rifle, and I would be interesed in the 9mm CZ-99

Although he was a mass-murdering Communist (actually a more non-aligned socialist) b*astard, Tito was the only guy who could have held it together, given the ethno-religious differences in former-Jugo.

But that area's always had oppressors (except now, oddly enough). And if it wasn't Josip Broz Tito, then it was the Serb Karageorgevic dynasty before him, or the Austrians before that, or the Turks before that...

If any of you guys own a Springfield XD, you've already got a nice product from Croatia...so maybe a CZ 99 isn't that much of a stretch?

Two years later... We have some Zastavas in 9mm and 40 in the hopper. $685.

If anyone wants one, please email rather than PM. I'm going to peg how many of these we take on how many people contact me first. Delivery will be 1st week of July.

This is the model in question.

Sig 226R clone eh? Does it take 226 mags BTW?

From the article finish quality and accuracy seems GTG, if it functions as reliably as the SIG then not a bad deal...

Nice!

I have four of those. Two with consecutive low serial numbers, one custom refinished (hard chromed) and one which I carry concealed. That one has just crossed 3000 round mark without any problems. I'm surprised that after a year of concealed carry finish shows no signs of wear.

SIG mags will not work in this gun... well, not unless you have some patience to modify them. Magazine catch system is different on this gun, and you'll notice a "D" shaped hole in the front. I have bought some MecGar 18 and 20 round mags for a P226 and I had to drill that hole and also modify the follower and that opening on the left top of the magazine tube, but I now have 18 rounder + a spare 20 round magazine when I carry.

Here are some successful modifications

I've heard that the Beretta 92 mags only require a "D" shaped hole with no further mods.

One thing I have to stress is that if you get this gun you CLEAN IT REAL WELL before you do anything else. The grease they use to store these guns is not your normal lubricating grease and has to be cleaned out real well before the first range visit. Both the pistol and magazines.

Dangertree, I'm sure you'll get great support from the factory as a distributor, but feel free to contact me if you have any questions as far as maintenance and repair are concerned.

Received mine today... it was a great surprise.
Looks good, can't wait for some free time to go to the range.
Oh and need more mags :)
Pics as soon as I find my camera.

Oh yeah, this gun was known as Charles Daly ZDA model until they changed from Charles Daly to Remington... I don't know what happened next to it.

Personally, I would get Charles Daly Model CD9 instead. It's cheaper (less than $400 in US) and looks cool (original 4.4" barrel):
