If I buy one more handgun, I'll be sleeping on the couch for a few months.... LOL

PS. Make it $495 and you will get good sales. You have to compete with Norinco , used Sigs (around 600-700) and new Sigs (around 1000-1100)

Every CZ product I've ever used has been of excellent quality and I wouldn't hesitate to buy this instead of a Sig if I were looking for a model of pistol similar to it.

i've always wanted one of these simply because they are from the motherland. other than that, the people who made this firearm really did their research and produced a quality product. right now, i'd jump on one in 9mm or .40 in a second! is there actually a way to get one of these in canada?

We were issued 9mm CZ99s and universally they were regarded as a piece of ####. Constant problems with magazine related stoppages, rear sights falling off, etc. I only used them on the range, I refused to carry it operationally and kept my personal Glock. We gave them to the Iraqis to use after we replaced our stock with Glocks, and then shortly after replaced the Iraqis CZ99s with glocks as range practices were unbearable with the amount of stoppages encountered.

The CZ99s we were issued were brand new, I still have the packaging from mine somewhere around here..

hmm...that is indeed odd. seeing as how all serbian military and police carry tis pistol with success. (the police in belgrade probably do more shooting in the streets than the police in toronto ever do at the range). not to mention military use and use by organized crime. (and its not like they don't have a choice). i can't really explain your experiences bif red, unless we're not talking about the same pitol. in either case, i'd love to get one.

No comment on the quality of any of the ex-Yugo forces...

I was looking through my souvineers and found the paperwork that came with the CZ-99. The ones we had were manufactured in 1996.

Hello!

I have a total of 8 of these (CZ 99/CZ 999/CZ 999 Scorpion/CZ 05 - three out of four 'generations' of CZ 99) out of which I have used 3, refinished 2 and kept 3 in original state.

Of the 3 I use, I fired ~1300 rounds out of one, ~2050 out of another and as of 3 days ago 2220 out of the third one which is the one I carry concealed (Canuck living in the States :)).

I have not had one problem with them.

On the other hand, I am not surprised by Big_Red's story about magazine related feeding problems.

From talking to owners (some of them police), one common complaint is that after about 8-10 years magazine spring loses its magic powers :) causing a lot of feeding problems. Some magazines start exibiting this behavior much sooner! Most people replace the spring, while the poor man's solution is (as suggested to me) to remove the spring, flex it the other way several times and put it back in. Never tried that one, nor would I trust any such magazine.

Another thing I noticed is that magazines do have some weird thing happen to them. Even after cleaning one magazine and storing it clean for a year, I have noticed that when I ran a piece of paper inside, a black/brown residue is left on it even though the magazine had been in storage all that time. It doesn't look like rust, though. What it is ... I have no clue.

All that would certainly explain the misfeeds.

In my CCDW gun I don't use factory magazines, but a MecGar magazine with an 18rd. capacity, but for practice I use factory magazines - same 4 magazines I have used for 2.5yrs now without problems. I give them another 3-4 before they start screwing up on me.

But, as I said, I carry one for self defense and 5000+ rounds fired out of these guns have proven their worth to me. I carry a latest iteration in CZ 99 design - CZ 05 (marketed in USA as EAA EZ9; w/picatinny rail) 95% of the time, and Heckler & Koch P7PSP or SIG P-225 the other 5% of the time. It is not as comfortable as P7/P225 but it packs more than twice the firepower and is not at all difficult to conceal ;)

Speaking of Iraq, it had recently ordered 18000 CZ 99 pistols for their Army forces: 15000 for use and 3000 specially engraved.

JohnOne I'm still hoping to get those pictures - if you're still willing to share them with me! Thanks!

So it's another SIG copy.

Why not 349$ Norinco?

Both CanAm and Marstar offer them.
