JOHNONE: Do you work at Marstar???
I thought that the development was done by Zastava and testing/feedback/improvement suggestions came from North America after the 1990 SHOT show. I know that TD Arms invested money into the production line in '89-'91. I am DEFINITELY interested to hear what you have to say about the development/testing (especially shoot 'til destruction) and I'm interested to find out more about pre-production guns you've got.
My experiences with these guns are the most favorable. I did have one issue with a CZ 05 out-of-the-box which was replaced by EAA under a lifetime warranty. I regret it because I could have fixed it myself (trigger bar was badly made) by slightly altering the trigger bar. I lost consecutive numbering in my two CZ 05s when it was replaced...
I did hear complaints from one American guy who was not satisfied with reliability, but what he described as "problems" with his guns were things (IMO) that normal spring replacement should have fixed. No spare parts, however, for CZ 99.
My CZ 999 Scorpion guns cost $289 ea. NIB purchased from CDNN! MSRP at the time was $589, or $300 over the lowest-priced ones I got.
I paid $400ea. for my two CZ 05s. Now you can find them for ~350.
Once again... I absolutely LOVE these guns and I keep 2 of them loaded for self-defense (I'm living in USA... perfectly proper and legal way to "store" them here). I also own Glocks, H&Ks, a Walther, but I trust my life to these Zastava CZ 99-family members and I love them more than any other guns I own.
Regards.
