Haven't rebarrelled it yet but I mounted my AR's DD H1 and ordered some cool aid for the enhenced rail:

I like the feel of it but have yet to shoot it all dressed up like that, the handstop/G2 light set up is awesome.

Looking good but isn't the large piece of the handstop with the cross bolt supposed to go to the front? Maybe I'm backward?
Is that the regular enhanced handguard? Looks really short, I know they are shorter than the regular one but it looks like it was cut down a little or something. That would have looked insane with the 12 inch barrel I sold to pay for my non restricted barrel.

Get out and shoot it :D

Factory enhenced rail, and I'm pretty sure I got the handstop right... Although it could probably be used the other way.
It feels best with my index in front of the front handstop thumb resting on the light mount, right next to the switch.

Just came back from the range, the enhenced set up works great but is heavy. Cool thing with the G2 is that you don't even need to push the button, if the tail cap is screwed in a little too much a light side pressure turns the light on, let it go and it's off. That was my only complaint about the G2 as a stand alone, turning on randomly when I sat down or just move while having it at my belt. Became a handy feature when mounted there ;).

Anybody else is having issues with PMAG M3?
Bolt doesn't hold open on the last round with my 5/20rds M3s... And when it does the mag doesn't drop free when you hit the mag release, than slams shut when you rip the mag off.
I'm starting to think I should trade them for MOES, no problems with them or 10rds LAR15 mags.

Thread bump with some pics of my 300 Blackout barrel. Almost finished, just need to build a new op rod guide and I'll be out doing load development :D

I think he said it started as a Shilen barrel blank. 1:8 twist.
Carbine length gas system forced me to shorten and re-profile the op rod.
Didn't feel it was a good idea to create a thin spot in the barrel by making the cut to use the factory op rod guide so I'll be building one myself that either pins or clamps to the barrel (probably clamp).

Nicely finished crown and my S&J linear comp. I wanted it quiet because I'll be using it for deer hunting this fall.

Showing how much I needed to shorten the op rod compared to the factory length.

Mounted in the rifle :)

I still need to get out and test it to see if the gas port is the right size or if it needs to be opened up a little.
I'll post pics of the op rod guide when I finish it and give a nice range report once I get it out and run some rounds through it.

That looks spectacular. Good job! Will you be re-finishing the barrel?

Haven't decided yet. Might have it Arma-coated or Cerakoted or some type of coating but not sure. I'm not overly worried about it though.
The 223 barrel is going to spend the most time on the rifle and having this and my 6.8 barrel bare stainless doesn't bother me. They will mostly be used for hunting.
Haven't decided yet but I may sell the 6.8SPC package once I get the 300BLK working.

Got word that my new bolt and extractor are in the mail, just need to wait for it to get machined and then shipped to my house and I'll be testing the 6.8 :)

So which barrel is better? The one heron arms is doing or Dlask? I'm looking to get my acr rebarelled with 18.5 non restricted.

Most of the Herron barrels appear to be using a premium chromolly blank and he is cutting it to any specs you ask for. Ian also removes the factory extension from your factory barrel (destroying the barrel in the process) and headspaces and fits the bolt to the extension and then takes care of the paperwork to have it removed from the registry.
Dlask is using Green Mountain blanks as far as I know and cutting them to their own specs which seems to be a medium contour. There is no fitting involved, just swap over gas system and go. They will swap the gas system and take care of the paperwork for you if you send in your rifle.

Herron is charging around $1000 and Dlask is charging around$550.
You decide which way to go depending on your budget and if you think it's worth the extra money for what Herron offers.

I bought my 223 barrel (a Herron Arms build) used and took care of the paperwork myself with the help of a friend who is a verifier.

There is a third option which gives a high end barrel cut to your specs but I can't guarantee time line and you are left to swap your own gas system and take care of reclassification yourself. If you live close to me I can help you with the gas system and paperwork, it's quite easy.
PM me for more details

Put a couple rounds through my 300BLK barrel las night, living in the county has it's advantages :)
My temporary gas block was to stack up small nuts to take up the space between the receiver and the spring. Not ideal but it worked and I was able to test a couple 208gr (quieter) loads to see if they would cycle. Looks like 12.4gr of A1680 is the minimum for full cycling which may be close to supersonic, I'll need to put a couple over the chrony to find out for sure.

I may just run with this idea instead of an op rod guide and try some stainless tubing cut to length instead of building a new op rod guide.

The Herron conversion costs more due to using a krieger, bartlein, etc. blank.
They can do one with a cheaper blank if you desire.
The Herron conversion is going to be more accurate.

100 yards, left target is 40 grain vmax in lapua case, n133 powder. Right target is 75 grain bthp in an ivi case, n140 powder.

Another load it seems to be partial to, 21.6 grains of n135 in a lapua case, 75 bthp.

I've got a ta33 acog for this thing, but with the accuracy it's demonstrating, I'm having a hard time taking the 2.5-10x32 off. Makes a great varmint rifle. Double tapping gophers all day, lol !
Herron's barrel conversion has far exceeded my expectations, that's for sure.

Bastard! Love that gun!

Whats the weight on a acr with the dlask barrel? Is it much more front heavy then a xcr heavy barrel?

Not sure on the dlask, but the Herron is lighter than the xcr-l standard barrel.
It's actually pretty decently balanced if you use a longer, thumb over bore style grip.

Nice shooting ntm.

Can't remember if you mentioned your twist rate before. Your barrel looks like it's a little heavier profile than mine.

1:8 bartlein with a Wylde chamber, lightly honed.
Yes it does appear to be heavier.
I do recall Ian mentioned trying a very lightweight profile at one point, by customers request, and that there was definite degradation in accuracy.

Looks the same up to the gas block then mine tapers back down.
Could be why I haven't done better than 1.5moa so far. I still think one of the loads I have built is going to do better though. I have another 600 rounds built using various powders and bullets, one of them is going to be a keeper :)
Best results so far with factory ammo has been with PMC M855 LAP green tips

Best loads thru my Questar barrel have been Factory xm193f. Followed by Norc 96 Gonna do some more testing n shooting once I'm done this wreched nightshift.
