ACR Media and Info Thread

I'd be content with that load myself, I'm more into run and gun. How do you find the handguard? Is it as sturdy as an AR polymer handguard?

It's got more wiggle to it. The upper/lower/stock all have a bit of wiggle.
The forearm can be tightened up considerably by drilling a couple holes in the forearm and screwing it to the upper reciever near the front. There are threaded holes in the upper reciever already at that location.
It goes a long way to making the acr feel more solid.

You can see the cap screws in this photo near the front of the forearm.

Is there currently a good 7.62x39 conversion that can be sourced here? or is it a waiting game like the other calibers still.

From my understanding 7.62x39 bolts can be purchased from MD Charlton. From there you would have to purchase and get a custom barrel fitted to your desired length.

Otherwise it's a waiting game, has been since 2011.

There are currently no conversion kits available in Canada. I'm waiting for my bolt for my 6.8 conversion and should have my 300BLK conversion done by the end of March. Everything is custom made or modified 223 parts.

Was at the range today, figured I'd share some more results. Was pretty windy but at 100yds I didn't think it would affect the results too badly.
The group on the right is only 4 because my brass catcher caused a stovepipe which messed up the brass of the cartridge going in and I had to throw it out. Not too bad though, was my lightest and heaviest powder charge tested today. Tried everything in between in 5 shot 0.2gr intervals, yes my math is off, my load before the 27.2gr was a 27.1gr which made a 2 inch wide by 2 inch tall 5 shot group.
I'll be doing some more 27.2gr loads to see if they can do more like the 3 that were close to each other.

I did some preliminary load testing on my Herron arms conversion yesterday.
It's a 18.6" bartlein medium profile.

It loves hornady 75gr bthp and vv n140 above all others. Had one node where it was deeply sub moa over a full grain of charge weights. When it started spitting out sub moa group after sub moa group while still going up in charge weights, I about fell off of the bench !
I'll have a full report with pics soon.
Things I did note, the acr likes to be run on a bipod with a fair bit of preload applied to it. I presume this makes all the wiggly bits in the forearm/upper/lower/folding stock more consistent. Results were not nearly as good when just bagging the rifle.
Also the geissele s3g trigger I've got in there does not lend itself well to precision shooting.

I ran an lar mag that had eight left over rounds of fiocchi 40 grain factory loads through the acr today while out sighting in a new optic on the tavor.
Was running a 1-4 meopta zd on the acr, rather than the 6-24 sightron that I used for load testing.
This Herron/bartlein barrel rocks !
Pretty decent for a factory load.

Sounds like the same one I have. I didn't get the data sheet with mine though. Maybe I'll email him again and ask for a copy :)

Just looking at the pics, you appear to have a lightweight contour, no ? Perhaps it's just the monster comp that makes it look that way.
Mine is the same size right from the gas block to the muzzle, balance is still good, much better than an xcr.

Mine is light contour. Very well balanced.

I've never been one of those "heavier barrel is more accurate" guys, but perhaps that's the accuracy difference here ?

I've barely started my load development for mine so I'm pretty sure it can do better. 2 more powders to test with the 55gr Hornady FMJ's and then a couple other bullets I want to try as well.
Part of the problem could just be me, I shoot fairly rapidly when I'm behind the semi auto. I do try to get myself settled between shots before firing the next one but end up pulling a few and I only have a 3-9 scope on it and I'm sure if I swapped over the Sightron 6-24 the groups would tighten up a little as well.
I'm still pretty happy with inch and a half groups at 100yds from a semi auto with a quick change barrel though. I'm sure it can do better but even if it doesn't it's still a keeper.

My 300BLK barrel is almost finished so my load development will probably shift to that for a while :D

I hear what you're saying, but those targets I posted above are factory loaded fiocchi with a 1-4 Meopta scope.
The load development targets looked much better, even with unsorted brass.
I shoot at a five to ten second cadence with my semi autos typically.
I just find it odd that there is what I perceive to be an accuracy differential here.
Which barrel blank manufacturer is yours ?

Please don't think that I'm being critical, that's not my angle here.
I'm pretty freaked out with the accuracy this thing is getting, and I want to ascertain if it's an anomaly or the standard.

I'll have to contact Ian again and see if he will email me the spec sheet, all he told me last email was that it was 1:8 with wylde chamber.
I don't think it's abnormal, ThrottleMonkey says his is extremely accurate as well.

My 300 Blackout barrel is finished :D

Picking it up on Tuesday.
Picking it up and testing it as well I hope.

Also got word that my new bolt for my 6.8SPC barrel is in at Gravel and they are waiting for the extractor to show then I'll have that. Have to have it machined to fit the 6.8 case head but that shouldn't take too long.

More pics and range report coming as soon as I get it to the range.
