ATT's what you need to know

The CFO won't issue in advance as a rule unless you press them (they claim "it's policy" which is BS as usual). So when calling in insist that they make it valid for a week since there is no way you will know in advance exactly what day etc etc. That way if it does arrive and you are not home and they leave a card you can simply go pick it up w/o worry.

And yes they will try to fight it but they have no legal grounds to do so. Hence why you stand your ground on this. (And yes I have done so here in bantario even with the ###### wyatt in charge)

In Saskatchewan it is a CFO imposed rule that you need to be a member of a club

In Alberta they made me join a Range, CFO said I was either a target shooter or a collector if a target shooter you need to join a range no exceptions.........

That is not a law however .. it is simply "policy" which is not law. It does not matter what province there is ZERO legal requirement to be a member in order to get an ATT of any type. The same as there is zero legal requirement to be a member in order to own/register a restricted class. The CFO (#######s) try this crap and need to be stood up to.

I can't speak for everyone but I am one of those few that do so and have for years.

The only way this stupidity of the CFOs acting as if they can make law is if a LARGE number of us push back.. including forcing the CFOs into reference hearings (s.72/74) at the same time as harassing the crap out of the elected politicians to fix this farce.

Oh and randyhub.. they can say "no exceptions" til they are blue in the face.. that does not change the law.. and they cannot legally refuse to issue an ATT/registration/pal etc in any form whatsoever on the phone.. it MUST by law be in writing as per the FA (and they hate when that is pointed out)

So do i just leave it at the Post office until my ATT comes in?

Thanks but she was pretty clear no transfer for the new pistol, no short term or long term permits without a membership as she said you need a membership to be a target shooter I said butI just buy day passes once in awhile she said while you still need a membership I just gave up..................

#1 you join a gun club..
#2 buy your gun... They will not send you a ATT before you purchase a gun

The store you buy from will call CFC and start the transfer.. Then it goes to the CFO and they take about a week or 2 and you get the ATT in the mail.

I hear some horror stories of dealing with CFO in other provinces!.. But in NB the CFO is great to deal with.. Just remember there is a system in place... If you follow it.... It works great!..

And if your gun ends up at the post office you do need a ATT to bring it home.

They can be 'pretty cleart" all they want.. they still MUST follow the law and they cannot refuse to issue such on the phone as I've said. Therefore stand your ground.

#1 NOT legally required

#2. Not true.. there is nothing at all within the law that says you must own a restricted/prohibited firearm to get an ATT. They are mutually exclusive
Do not swallow the BS the CFO's constantly spew and remember the golden rule:

POLICY IS NOT LAW

PS: CFO might be all "nice" there.. but they are still doing things that are not legal and sadly there are many like yourself whom simply capitulate to that.. and that is how this constant progression of their BS continues

So i cant just pick up my pistol at the post office? i need to get an ATT? The form on the RCMP website doesnt work and the damn CFO office never answers the phone! what info do i have to give them when getting an ATT?
thanks a bunch for the info!

Imagine if you picked up a box with other boxes get home and find a pistol you ordered in the mix??? What then? Call and get ATT from your house back to the PO then another ATT back to the house, I am confused........................

It really could be anything they have prompted you to pick up at the post office. I bet your relative has sent you some baking, or a late birthday present, or a recent ebay purchase... anything.

Anyone that wants to challenge the CFO can do so!.. CFO policy is just that!.. Policy.. Go right ahead and tell them what you think of there policy..... Then see how long it takes for your ATT to show up..
