I'm in Newfoundland and I applied in person for an ATT last Monday. Currently no response back from the Mounties. It's my first restricted and I really want to get to the god damn range to hunt some paper circles. I'm so incredibly frustrated with the whole ATT system.
There is no need for something so arbitrary to take so long to issue. I already have the license, range membership, own the gun plus 1000 rounds and it's registered. Yet it's sitting in my safe because I do not possess a piece of paper saying I can bring it to the only spot I'm allowed to discharge it.
The RCMP and federal government need to wake up. I'd call or write my MP but I don't think the NDP are going to help me.
Signed,
Frustrated law abiding citizen and responsible firearm owner.
Why do you think a few of us have taken them to court?
What were the court results? Or is it still pending?
Its not
Its just that by stating you are a collector you are required to do a few more things and open you self up to inspections with any amount of firearms owned. Where regularly you are only open to inspection if you own more than ten restricteds.
Shawn
it is still on going...
For how long have you been unable to take your restricted guns to the range?
In Saskatchewan, do you need an Club Membership prior to buying a pistol and be able to take it home?
In ALL of Canada you do NOT ever by law need to have any club membership period unless you so choose.
In Saskatchewan it is a CFO imposed rule that you need to be a member of a club
In Saskatchewan it is a CFO imposed rule that you need to be a member of a club
So that's a 'self imposed rule' by Sask CFO. Because Shalimar swears up and down there's no law saying that. And I tend to believe him.....
There is no law it is provincial CFO policy. And unless taken to court it stands. Even if taken to court it will stand as both Shalimar and Cyclone can attest too.
