Since Ruger dropped the Alaskan model my interest dropped. It was a really neat off the shelf package. It would be great if a site sponsor could get Zastava to do a run of there Stainless / Synthetic rifles chambered in .375 Ruger. I would probably get one.....

Fuzzy

The laminated stock on their guide gun model is probably a superior stock to the Hogue one, actually. I think dropping the Alaskan was a mistake but it's probably a production decision.

I hope Zastava does not soil their lineup with a runt..would bring shame to mine chambered in the true king.

The guide gun is stainless. They probably just used up the Hogue stock supply

A Cabela's store in Louisiana has the Alaskan on sale for $599. Guess they found some surplus and they're blowing them out. Rumour has it that it was a shipment headed for Canada but then everyone cancelled their order after coming across this thread. :)

Looks like a good deal if you want a Hogue stocked NEW KING !

Great deal if you want to drop it into a Macmillan, too. Too bad it's in the USA, and likely not worth the import hassle. Especially since the Guide Gun metal parts configuration is basically identical except the optional muzzle brake , and if someone just had to have a Hogue stock they could buy the guide model and a Hogue, sell the laminate and end up ahead. ;)

Anyone have a .375 (Ruger, or H&H) near Timmins and is willing to let me try it out? I'm really digging that ugly as sin guide gun but I want to get a feel for the recoil level these cartridges provide. I'm not entirely a big puss-puss. I just want a shot a trying something like it before I buy so that if I don't like it, I can avoid spending 1200$ on one. Feel free to PM me.

If you can handle a slug gun you can handle a 375

S'what I figured. The only downside is I've never fired a slug gun with optics on it before. And if I were to get a guide gun, I think a low powered variable, like a 1-6x would compliment it nicely. I'm hoping someone around me has something like that and will let me have a few pews. :D

So Clark - whats so BAD about the HOGUE stock that you hate so badley ? Just wondering ! Thks RJ

Where in my quote did I say that I "hated the Hogue stock so BADELY?"

It's a perfectly serviceable stock, it soaks up recoil very well. Nothing really BAD about it. A guy could hunt for years with a Hogue stocked rifle and do very well. It does have some drawbacks in my mind though, which is why I replaced it. It's wide and blocky, the texture is too sticky and the recoil pad has a tendency to snag when lifting rifle to shoulder quickly.

One of my African friends with his Howa NEW KING

4 shots at 100m, flyer was first shot. 200gr GS custom bullet

It's remarkable how well the NEW KING is being received in Africa. In another decade it will likely be the most popular mid bore world wide.

Check back in a decade. The rest if those cartridges had 100 years. THE NEW KING will need far less than that. :)

Whats the average velocity you can get with a 300gr bullet out of the 375 ruger?

I have a box of Hornady 300gr Solids @ 2660fts, but realguns.ca loads their 300gr loads up to 2800fts, is that to hot of a load? To me that sounds like a dangerous hot load?

check out the data below and let me know what most of you guys that load for them think of the 300gr loads listed.
