Hi,

How would you rate the upcoming Colt Canada C8 civilian version against the numerous AR-15 variant carbines out there?

Is Colt the best one available? If not, what would be better and why?

Thank you,

TDM

The Colt Canada (Diemaco) C8s are a nice piece of kit, but a wee bit overpriced in my books.... IMHO the BEST deal on an AR15 currently goes to irunguns and the Colts they are importing out of the USA... you can get a Colt LE6920 for half the money of the Diemaco. That's $1000 you can put into upgrades and glass.

Guys always bag on "grey market imports" and no warranty service, but in my experience you don't get warranty issues with quality made ARs.

Do that and you will have a better bang for the buck.

I believe that this is a "non issue" now that IRG has said they will just re-export the rifle for warranty service back in the US.

The only significant difference is the Colt Canada CHF barrel in terms of performance or quality I guess......but DD, Rainier, BCM, for example offer similar (or better) for less money....

Just to be the d!ck. Its not a c8 as they are select fire and c8 is simply a Canadian mil designation for their short barreled select fire ar15.

Whoa, go in a place without CGN access for a few weeks, and hell has partially frozen over?!?! Diemaco civvy guns? I'd be down for one or two. Not sure if I'd keep the ergo of the "c8" as it wasn't all that awesome to begin with. Even I had changed out some drop-in pieces OTW. For comparison sakes, I don't think having this gun would make me any more awesome (or lack thereof) than I already am at shooting paper targets domestically.

as a guy who collects Canadian military firearms i bought the C8 only because its from the manufacturer of the Canadian service rifle and is as close as ill ever get to the real thing ...gone are the days when if you were a member of the DCRA you could order a C1, C2, or C1 Stirling (ahh the good old days) from Canadian Arsenals....colt Canada is the new Canadian arsenals... so yep its worth the extra cash to have diemaco on the side with made in Canada and the maple leaf ....plus i dont even really like AR's that much and yep ive owned many in the past ...i hope to have it by the next ancaster gunshow ..ill do a small display of Canadian made firearms from the No4 Mk1 to the BREN and C1A1 to the new C8 Civvy

my view on it, is its a $2200 ar with a CHF barrel, lose fit without their rubber insert, and a crap trigger. so in essence, you are paying for a basic Match grade AR with a military style trigger, and lose fit for twice the price of other AR's that have a better trigger from the get go.

If you're referring to the accu wedge its a complete gimmick and waste of money and time.

Im well aware lol. So im not sure why a company like colt would put one into a $2200 ar15 unless they are trying to hide a very loose upper/lower fit.

Were the accuwedges added later in their lifetime or from factory? I don't remember seeing one in any A2's. Last time I saw them was back in 2006-07 on A1's. Those were already 20 year old rifles.
