The JR Carbine Thread

over 300 rounds through it and I find that if I don't keep it lubed well enough it will stovepipe the last round in the magazine. The only other issue is one that I never noticed, but when someone much smaller was firing it it would jam often. I finally realized that if you "limp wrist it" it jams, but if you hold onto it it runs great. Anyone else come across this? Any way to adjust it?

What type of ammo are you using? I've got over 1,500 rds through my JR Carbine and the only time I've encountered misfeeds and jams was with cheap MFS steel case ammo. Never had a jam with Winchester or Remington ammo. That MFS crap fouled the hell out of the action and would misfeed every second or third round.

40 cal & working fine after some fine tuning

OK, now that looks sharp. What front sight are you running and how much adjusting/fitting did it need?

I'd love to do this too.

Steel cased ammo is not recommended in these... I don't have any problems when mine is clean and well lubed.

I was using American Eagle 115gr rounds in it. I picked up some Western Munitions 124mm reloads and it seems to like them a lot better, but will still misfeed if you don't have a firm grip on the gun. I'lll put a few more boxes through it, keep it wet and see what happens.

Tried a JR "muzzle brake" on for size but the Canadian long barreled version looks so much better with a shroud.

I think I will only use brass for this gun, shot over 500 rounds and no problems. Also where and how much for that long muzzle brake looks cool.

Has anyone had a problem with reloads jamming in a 9mm? If I put 4 in the magazine, it is fine, 5 or more and the bolt will sometimes close before the next round is fully engaged. Did not do it with factory loads when I first got it, just seems to be with reloads.

Sounds like they are a little too long. Maybe hitting the feed ramp, and getting shoved down by the bolt.

I have to say that I'm impressed with the customer service at JRC. I left a note on the contact form on their website last Wednesday that I was having an issue with mags over-inserting (no stopper in the mag well in that vintage). Half an hour later my cell phone rang. It was Tom Farnogli, co-owner of the company. He told me they had a new magazine feed ramp with a mag stop built in, and to send my shipping address to them. Had a UPS tracking code that afternoon, installed the part yesterday (4.5 business days out of US).
