rifle for moose hunting-what would you use?

My first was with a 303Br. Lee Enfield sporterized Simpon-Sears 'special'. Since that first, over the years there've been a number of others, using a wide array of calibres, ranging of cartridges. From that first with the 303Br, the likes of 30-06, 308 Norma Magnum, 338 WM and the 444 Marlin, some scoring more than one, are representative of what have 'worked' for me. With those I've used, with proper shot placement, the odd one needed more than that initial first shot. That shot placement was the key and something 'drilled' into me by my Dad. A graphic example with emphesis on that point took place on one of my first Moose hunts experiences. At 100 yds or less, Dad thumped a young bull with two quick shots, again, with the faithfull 'sporterized' 303, using the old 215gr Dominion loads. The young bull never showed any indication of being hit or breaking stride. When I questioned, why he didn't take another crack at it, he replied, "He's dead, just doesn't know it yet". About 40 yds later, the Bull folded.
A side issue, I could beat the 'old man' any day of the week punching paper, but not on game.

Yeah, figured that much but what I was getting at is, how can you have a hunting rifle collection that doesn't include a 308 or 30-06?

Funny thing about that. I've still got a couple .308s and 4 30-06s and many hundreds of kills with those. Still, if I dumped all of them today it wouldn't negatively affect my hunting at all.

Any of these:
M 96 Mauser 6.5 x 55 Swede with Nikon 4 -12 X
Parker Hale Mauser .270 with Bushnell 3 - 9 X
M 700 Remington 7 Rem Mag with Leupold 2.5 - 8 X
With the 7mm being my first choice.
