Nice! What velocity did you get with the coated? Did you try doing it to the 230gr 300BLK?

I loaded them at 41gr H4198 which according to some data is around 1600-1700.

300blk blue and red, my goto pc is going to be the red from now on.

Stealth boolits or lipstick boolits......

First up in .45 Colt is a 305 gr. semi wadcutter and a 310 gr. gas checked round nose flat point. Both are from Lee moulds, powder coated and sized at .452

Next is the .358 Winchester. Both are from a Night Owl Enterprises gas check mould with flat point and hollow point pins. The flat point is 240 gr. and the hollow point is 230 gr. After powder coating, they were sized to .359

Lastly, in .300 BLK and .30/30 Winchester. These flat points are from a Mihec gas check mould with both types of pins. Boolit weights are 148 gr. for the hollow point and 152 gr. for the flat point. Both are sized at .309

About the powder coating, both the red and flat black are from Harbor Freight. The black is sprayed on with PC gun and an air compressor. I think it looks the best. The red is dry tumbled on by swirling and shaking the boolits in a plastic container with a spoonful of PC and some black airsoft BB's. The dry tumble method is way easier and less equipment oriented with no air compressor or spray gun required. The finish is a little rougher but it uses a lot less PC than spraying. I tried dry tumbling the black but the PC didn't take worth a crap!!! Both work where it counts, though. No leading in any of my test shoots :)

.38 S&W 150 gr

First time casting this weekend, My son and I made our first batch 150 gr RN .38 S&W boolits (dropped at .362). These from an NOE 2 cavity aluminum mold. My first batch were somewhat wrinkly, so I cranked the heat. the second batch were almost perfect. I started with 100% lead (old forklift ballast) and added a piece of 50/50 solder to mix. I am planning to shoot without resizing and tumble lubing in Alox (for now!). Now the #### part, these are from the first batch, which were more wrinkly.

Apparently the black airsoft BB's work the best for building up the right amount of static while swirling. I guess it has something to do with the type of plastic it is. I just grabbed whatever black ones I could find locally. It's worked so far......

Thankyou jethunter!

I really enjoy casting! Once I start, I cast a complete pot at a time (18lbs). Once the mould is to temperature, it casts very clean bullets.
After I finish my casting, I inspect each of the bullets, and weight segregate them. With this mould, I have only had a max weight variation of 2.0 grains. So there is only two piles of weight specific bullets. It goes suprisingly quick when you get a system going.

The BB's are all the same material except for the colorant which in the case of black is pure carbon....a semi conductor

My new moulds shown up last week. Got a few cast. Now to load em up and see how they preform. They are designed for marlin guide guns but work for all .458" guns. Standard 405 gr flat point in left. The 530 gr hollowpoint in middle. And the 550gr flat point in the right.
